Gordon and Altuve both steal at about a league-average clip so this doesn't really affect them. They'll account for a similar proportion of league net steals as total steals.

 

Castro doesn't attempt many steals these days but he'd be slightly hurt by the change. This mostly helps the guys who really pick their spots and end up with ~20 steals at a high clip, but identifying who those guys are is difficult. There really isn't much difference in player value with steals vs. net steals.

 

Net saves similarly don't really change values but as KingKat pointed out, the fact that middle relievers can blow saves would be maddening.

 

Biggest thing is just the annoyance factor.

Teams are already penalized for blown saves and caught stealings, by their players not picking up saves and steals. Since player values won't really change, this is just an annoyance that everyone will deal with. If some players really did consistently steal or save at a well-above-average clip, it would be a different story.

 

I'm pretty surprised it got 10 votes. I thought it would be like 15-5 in favour of steals.
