Laika Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Tell me about Yorman Rodriguez
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 With the system depleted a bit, I ended up having Espada as my 9th ranked prospect. His draft pedigree isn't going to do him any favours on lists like this, but I like what he has done in his short time in the system. He put up good numbers at age 18 and had his fastball in the 90-92 range with some further projection. He showed good command and good feel for his breaking pitches, particularly the curveball. I think he might get a shot in short season A next year and could move into everyone's top 10 for the next couple of years.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 2016 will be the year of the Borucki I actually had Borucki 9th and Espada 10th
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 DJ Davis is our 15th best prospect? Yikes.

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I had the chubby catcher somewhere between 10 and 12. I forget. He's got a nice power bat for a catcher, also has a strong throwing arm and is apparently a good receiver. My concern would be that he's had consecutive season ending knee injuries, in 2014/2015.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Tell me about Yorman Rodriguez I wish I knew more. He's a catcher, turned 18 during the season. Flashed pretty good power and walked more than he struck out, also stole 12 bases. If he's indeed a decent catcher, those are some impressive numbers. The bat could also play elsewhere if he can keep it up.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Danny Jansen has the necessary offensive skills to do well as a catcher at the big league level. He has power and excellent plate discipline. He was hurt by his .213 BABIP in A ball this year. Catchers who can hit and stick at catcher are very rare. At 20 years of age Jansen is at a good age vs. level as well.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 2016 will be the year of the Borucki I actually had Borucki 9th and Espada 10th Could be. He's got good stuff, but I'd like to see him in a bigger sample. I had Espada 9th and KingKat had Borucki 8th, just for the record. King did not rank Yorman Rodriguez.

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Didn't he have a bad knee injury last year? He has had two knee surgerys in each of the past two seasons.

I believe in the bat and if he sticks at catcher, he could be legit.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 He has had two knee surgerys in each of the past two seasons. That doesn't sound good for a catcher. Hopefully its not chronic as he looks to have great potential with the bat.

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Grant, where did Hurl rank Yorman Rodriguez?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 I was talking about Danny Jansen lol lol, sorry. Hurl ranked him 11th. I'll post the spreadsheet tomorrow.

I had him just outside my 15...
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I had him just outside my 15... Now that I saw my list again, I had him at 9.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Now that I saw my list again, I had him at 9. That was my list.

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Pentecost at 4?? Wow I had Pentecost at 10.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I had Pentecost at 10. Yeah that is the highest I would rank him. Sure he was a high 1st round pick but he hasn't done anything since being drafted. He'll be 23 next year and will DH most of the time apparently. Hopefully he can at least stay on the field this season.
