Why is Billy Beane so lauded, again? He's never won even a pennant, his record as a GM is basically .500 over the last 10 years, and he's made a bunch of dumbass trades. Moneyball was just an epic crock of s*** that completely glossed over the fact that his team had 3 ace level pitchers in their prime. The Donaldson and Samardzija trades were both firable offenses. I just really don't get it, at all.

Could be the 10 of his 18 seasons winning 88 or more games, including 100 twice...and 1484-1286 for his career and 931-850 for the past 10 years isn't basically .500.

 

I don't understand what's happened in the past couple years. Maybe having all the people poached from his front office has revealed a personal weakness and it was the full system that was the success and not the man himself. Doubt that though
