TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Sure he's honest but that's one hell of a glass house he's throwing stones from. You want do to *******-y things like wipe your ass with the other team's towel than at least have the decency to shut the f*** up about what other players do and not give lectures. I have mostly been a fan of Holland though his career but he's coming off like baseball's biggest hypocrite right now. that was just having fun with fans that had been on the pen all game. Jose did the same thing when he pretended to throw the ball into the fans on the road. Only a few douches ripped him for that one.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I think many people don't love the on-field Bautista, but I'll take it. Sure he whines but I don't care, he produces. And he's a really nice guy for those who have had the chance to meet him. Off the field he is a different person - Still competitive, very business oriented and without the negative attitude.

I thought it was a locker room thing where he wiped actual s*** from his ass using a Jays towel. This changes my perception of the incident considerably.

This changes my perception of the incident considerably. Those are the headlines I read, or at least the ones I saw inferred. I didn't click any of them. I had a gut feeling none of them were true. I really doubted any player would have done that. No way other players care as much about logos and paraphernalia as the fans.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Holland was in the bullpen and a fan dropped a towel down. Holland faked throwing the towel back up and then rubbed it on his butt. Its even on video.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 I don't have a problem with it honestly, it just makes the shelling he received even more hilarious. Hopefully next year someone comes up with a white towel and a big Derek Holland face and makes sure he sees it being rubbed on the fan's ass
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 A bunch of Ranger whiners calling Bautista a whiner. That's rich. How about you just accept defeat and move on.
827 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I love Bautista, his drive, the fire he plays with and of course the big homers. Even though he's probably my favourite Blue Jay, for some reason I can't seem to dislike Holland. In that interview, he sounded genuine. I understand that others wont like his 'antics', hell I wouldn't like getting shown up like that. Some will say, forget about it and pitch better and I agree; still though, I wouldn't take kindly to opposing players staring me down and flipping bats. Joey Bats still king tho.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Oh absolutely. And now, we are hearing that Johnny Cueto caught and pointed out a person in centerfield stealing signs. In the only game that the Blue Jays have been able to win. I hope that isn't a story that gets swept up under the "oh baseball is baseball" talk, and actually gets investigated. Jesus Christ
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Jesus Christ I see I'm not the only one who foolishly read the comments. I know better yet I still do it.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 But really I love how because he allegedly pointed out this person that doesn't exist, everyone is just supposed to believe it.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 But really I love how because he allegedly pointed out this person that doesn't exist, everyone is just supposed to believe it. Just think about it though. Even if a guy is sending signs, how in the hell would Cueto be able to spot it, and why would he be looking backwards anyway? None of this passes the sniff test. Ridiculous.

Yeah this whole thing is absurd and has been since it started. People allege this, yet obviously there's never been any proof. Like MLB would just allow them to get away with this. And what about former players? They're all just keeping quiet on this too? What about games like last night where we're utterly embarrassed at home? Where was our guy on that one? It's just so stupid that this nonsense somehow gets brought up every season now.

And how would you communicate any of that to the hitter? Signal flags? Not with all those white towels waving. Mic'd up third base coach? I think someone would notice that s***. If you were going to cheat like that, why would you put a person out there when you can put a camera the size of a peanut just about anywhere in the stadium. And wouldnt you have better evidence? I mean, couldnt you have asked Hendricks last season? Or Erick Kratz? The whole concept is so absurd. Edit: Oops we are talking Texas, I just i'll throw arancibia in there... but he is proof enough that he had no clue what pitch was coming
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Not really. Everyone loves Donaldson, and he's even more talented, and just as intense. The difference is that he doesn't whine, or have ridiculous bat-flipping antics. Sure, everyone loses it on a bad call in a critical situation once in a while, but Bautista does it every time he doesn't get a borderline call. donaldson bat flipped a walk against KC this year...lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 That's not true. None of my friends down here like the Blue Jays. Most of them think Bautista is awesome. I love Joey Bats... f*** everyone else!!! What goes on between the lines is all I care about, if he's an ******* doing it, so be it. Love him!

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Nothing to disagree with there, but for respect of the game, he should have just said "it was a bit much" and moved on. Post this in the Jays clubhouse.

fmradioguy Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 In terms of temperament, he's definitely the closest the Jays have had to George Bell since... well, George Bell. Team-mates love him. Opponents hate him. It was the same for Bell back in the day.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 donaldson bat flipped a walk against KC this year...lol lol That was awesome though because it was after they threw at his head twice in one AB and the ump didn't eject the KC pitcher even though warnings had been issued before the Jays could retaliate.

Team-mates love him. Opponents hate him. It was the same for Bell back in the day. Bell was violent though. Bautista's thing is more utter scorn. I don't recall Jose ever rushing the mound or throwing anything or anything that could remotely be construed as violent. As much as he rubs people the wrong way, his list of actual infractions on or off the field is practically non existent. That makes him a pretty unique case. People just hate him for his personality. There's very little of substance to critique beyond that. Bell on the other hand, was a karate chopping, bat breaking, mound rushing hot head. Like a meaner version of Brett Lawrie or Sean Rodriguez.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 IF the Jays beat KC, and ONLY if they beat KC, I would love for KC to whine about Bautista and then have him be asked about them and Holland's comments, and Bautista to say "I don't really care what a bunch of guys sitting around on their couches watching me play thinks about me."
SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Holland and Dyson have now embarrassed themselves on the field (which is fine, baseball is tough) and off the field (which isn't as they look like complete bitches). If we get eliminated I can only hope we tip our caps and don't cry like bitches about it.
