They need to come up with a new phrase so that fans can't interfere.

 

Instead of saying "I got it", how about a codephrase? Or if you don't want to get complicated just yell "Me!" or the player's own name who will catch it "Jose!"

 

I'm actually kind of shocked they don't have a set of phrases they use to call off other players and that "I got it!" is a legit call off given that a ton of fans across the league probably yell this every game.

It must be somewhat delicate for those guys to have to call off players with far greater seniority like Tulo or Bautista. I think that might play into it.
