nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Time to focus on this game and get back into a good mood. http://rlv.zcache.ca/yellow_big_grin_smiley_with_missing_teeth_plate-rffb996f3b9c044de93bc98dca28e7e6b_ambb0_8byvr_512.jpg
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Travis could be half as good as he was this year and still be better than Goins. That Statement would be False, even this year if they both had the same amount of at bats!!!
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The voice of Jerry Howarth always makes me feel better about the game.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Be nice to have one of those games where we shred the starting pitching early, then demolish the bullpen and end up winning 11-2
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 first pitch it at 4 right? I'm seeing 330 everywhere
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Regarding Encarnacion and his injured finger: maybe if he takes shorter swings he might actually have more success in Kauffman Stadium in the relatively cool weather since it will be tough to hit no-doubter home runs anyway. I don't think Encarnacion needs his usual, full, mighty swing to hit the ball well.

I don't think Encarnacion needs his usual, full, mighty swing to hit the ball well. He's been the most consistent hitter in baseball for 4 years now. He should probably do what works for him.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The Jays were 44-30 when Anthony Gose started last season. They were 25-35 when Devon Travis started this season. Travis simply doesn't bring the winning intangible.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Being a troll has nothing to do with time. Robert would know

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Tie this series up and head back to Toronto for 3 straight games. I don't think Volquez will do quite as well at RC. Winning today's game is important regardless of what happened in the ALDS.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Robert would know Isn't Robert jaysfan 2014 aka raysjays aka dogg? He's realaccountant too?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Barry Davis is so annoying. Continues to make me hate him more every time I see him ask a stupid question.

nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Please accept that there are other people on this forum who know more about how baseball works than you do. People like Boxcar and BTS are trying to teach you something important, they're not antagonists. This is what he posted: Jesus Christ, what a dumbass. When you're this lost in a baseball discussion, probably best to just lurk rather than insert your retarded, ill informed opinions. I believe that you are a moderator here NorthOf49, so responding honestly might get me banned but to answer your post: Sabermetrics are advantageous when accepted as an imperfect science. Even Sabermetric pioneers such as Bill James don't fully agree with all the Sabermetrics - http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2014/10/29/bill-james-not-a-statistical-guru-not-impressed-by-war/

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 He rarely actually asks questions though. Basically states facts and expects the player's to fill up the time "Were you worried about your son as beer cans were being thrown onto the field?", asked to Kevin Pillar's mother, is still the most riveting question an interviewer has ever asked. Kudos to Davis for asking the questions everyone wants answers to.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The usefulness of certain sabermetric applications is unrelated to the validity of basic concepts like how position players produce value and how we can assign ownership to results. It's healthy for everyone to constantly question what they believe to be true. But there are some basic things that should be regarded as such. You are likely missing out, then. BTS may come off a certain way and some people may have certain things to say about him, but he adds a lot of value in discussions such as this one. He has a firm grasp of the game and a willingness to share it. Thanks North. This is why I voted you for forum's best poster 2013.

nextyear Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 It really peeves me when people think that baseball should be "taught" as if it is some university level statistics course. For goodness sake, baseball is sports entertainment; just enjoy it for what it is. It is fun to discuss it, but why analyze it to death?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 God, the circle jerking in this thread!
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 There a difference in sharing knowledge and teaching and thinking you are always right and feeling everybody should see the game like you!!! Pistol your guns Mod sure BTS can speak for himself, doesn't need a Mod to champion his ego!!! Impartiality is a Trait of a Good Mod, not defending the Hive!!! Lol Don't make me have you banned, BBBB.
