sorry to have to be the one to say it, but never led the league in any meaningful offensive category yet somehow won 3 mvp awards despite being out OPS'ed by Ted Williams by 200, 300,and 400 ops points.

 

I guess we live in an alternate dimension where defense doesn't exist and voters don't judge players on whether their team makes the playoffs.

Ted's D was good enough to win the award 2 years prior to that somehow.

 

These defensive gurus won it in recent years: Canseco, Eckersly, Frank Thomas twice, Mo Vaughn, Giambi, Verlander, Miggy Cabrera twice, Koufax, Bob Gibson, Ryan Howard, and Kershaw
