Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 My throat has been brutal all day; will alcohol make it worse or will it not matter at all? Alcohol will make you care less...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Tulosuckzki I'm not really serious but what's up with this guys bat, so many swing-and-misses... so much bad contact. Small sample size? He's the best shortstop in baseball, he'll be fine.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Jays better get stroman in here fast, because as I see it the Yankees have better starting pitching and bullpen than the Jays and as we know good pitching beats good hitting. As it stands now the Yankees should easily overtake the Jays for first place. What does otherworldly, godlike and amazing hitting do to good pitching, though?
Statman Verified Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Russell Martin needs to get his s*** together really fast.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Russell Martin needs to get his s*** together really fast. Martin WAS 2 for 4 yesterday, just that his 2 GDPs were really poorly timed... We'd probably have lost that game regardless, however.

Two GDP with runners in scoring position, trying to attack Davis outside with fastballs (this was some of the worst game calling ever) not once but TWICE. That was the game right there. I guess we can get away with him struggling at the plate but making egregious errors game planing against power hitters like Chris Davis who has two huge holes in his swing we can't afford.

We're going to get beaten by Captain "sure, it's only Adderall that I'm taking", so is every other team. He's having a great (enhanced, but it's okay, the league says so) season... He hasn't hit 40 homers because catchers have called 40 bad pitches against him...

One thing missing his spots but you don't purposely pitch Davis outside and let him and his adderall enhanced concentration and tracking abilities to extend those "big and strong" arms over the plate. You attack Davis with low and inside fastballs early in the count, sprinkle in some off speed or even a high fastball. With two strikes you expose the two holes in his swing with the high and inside fastballs and breaking balls in the dirt. The guy strikes out at a 30%+ rate. Why purposely attack his hot zone? That's what Martin did. Little margin of error for Hutch there.

I'm not worried about his overall game calling based on those 2 ABs.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Our top 5 went something like 1 for 20 and that was the Bautista infield hit in the 9th. You can't pin the loss on Martin for goodness sake.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Anyone consider the fact that Hutch wasn't locating his fastballs and they just ended up.high He was throwing meat balls all day
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Team loss It sucked Move on. We've got David F'n Price today backed up by the best offense in baseball. I like our chances.
labadee Verified Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Throw TRM back out there for a better a bounce back GDT?

puphood Verified Member Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 It had to happen sooner or later and I can't go and blame one guy Revere playing volley ball, Bautista squirting a ball out, and Goins trying 3 times to pick a ball of the turf plus leaving runners on base. I thought Hutch did OK the first 4 innings. So a group failure and this team is due for a loss. Get over it and get em today.....
