Really glad for Goins for his past month and a week or so, he's filled Travis' shoes adequately and then some. Hopefully he can keep it up, not necessarily his hits but just his approach at the plate to get on base with walks and such. And no need to go on about his D of course... pretty much at an elite level.

Anyways... man those Indians are tough... totally different from teams like Angels who were struggling badly or Tigers who are basically just mailing it in. Real good preparation for us going into a tough pennant race till the end. They may even fight for that second wild card spot at this pace, who knows... just some awesome pitching combined with timely hitting. I'm glad we had just enough to beat out a real good team today, which is what we need to do as a playoff calibre team.

Amazing game, especially the ending. Goins continues to amaze with his bat over the past 2 months.

I have been a Goins fan but up until today I thought he was kind of like the weak, chubby underdog; during the post game celebration when he was down to a T-shirt I realized that he is actually quite muscular almost like Russel Martin. From now on I am going to expect more power from Goins, he has the build for it.

I went for my run after the Gomes tied the game. I got back to here that I thought "Gomes" hit a game winning home run. Looked at the TV and saw Goins hit the 4 bagger. We should all do a 5k run during extras innings. :)

After this series, we face an Orioles team, who, like the Tigers, are mailing it in as well, and a Red Sox team that is better, but still looking at an 85-90 loss season. Then the Yankees..

Yeah, those Orioles are crashing real hard for sure... I'm always uneasy with these division games for some reason though, although we've done decent within the division so far this year...

But for sure those Yankees games will be the key ones.

Ryan Goins, 87 wRC+, 9.2 BB%, 1.2 WAR. Is this the real life?

Quite impressive. The wRC+ is up to date but the WAR will be updated after 3:30 am this morning, I expect it to be around 1.4 by tomorrow morning (in 100 games). EDIT: Fangraphs normally updates between 5 - 6 am each day (the update time is shown in a footnote near the end of each stats page). Ryan Goins WAR is now at 1.4, and his wRC+ is 87 as you had stated.

It will be difficult to consider Goins to be a replacement level player if he keeps it up.

Motherf***er is learning to take a walk. I assume that's also making him more selective when he swings... I'm really happy with this transformation.
