A little late reply, as I actually like watching the game in a pub with friends, rather than at home with a vacuum cleaner buzzing around me. But yes, Tex was reaching for the dead ball as it was rolling away, so he could hold up his glove with the ball in in, and hope to get the call. And he probably would've being at yankee stadium.
