I'm not a big city person and really don't like Paris. When I'm not heading to Canada I'm usually looking for sun, nice people, nature, cheap drinks... Loved Bali, liked Singapore but it was too expensive, too hot and too many people. won't be going back there. Bali.... would love to go back. wonderful people, amazing nature, dirt cheap food and drink.

I saw a "traditional" show and it was absolute tourist s***. lol Next time I'll know to find something that is not complete tourist tripe.

 

The Volcano is amazing. There are some beautiful waterfalls, ocean salt mining, beautiful black sand beaches, didn't see a single motor boat the entire time I was there. You'd have to see the harbor in Singapore to know why that was important. The main swimming beach in Singapore you can see hundreds of ships off the coast and in my mind couldn't get past that enough to be able to swim in the water. just felt gross knowing how much s*** they were pumping into the bay.

those are the ones I love most, but my neck wont take them so I don't do amusement parks any longer. I love roller coasters and miss that thrill.

-Scarborough Bluffs/Woodbine Beach

-Centre Island for beach/biking/views

 

Random tips:

-If you plan on travelling a lot for the day, buy a TTC day pass.

-If you want a filling meal before the game, I always eat at the Quiznos at Wellington/John Street, which is just north of the Rogers Centre (near the power station)

-If you want to leave the Rogers Centre and beat the crowds, go to St. Andrew station rather than Union Station

-The harborfront is a good place to walk and check out local entertainment and events. There's also a small artificial beach there.

-If you want to splurge on your wife, go head to Yorkdale, the largest upscale mall in Canada. You may meet some high roller ballplayers there too (Lawrie used to frequent the sushi resto up there). You may also want to walk around Yorkville which is more of a shopping lane

-A good place to eat but very pricey is Jacob's Steakhouse which is on the west end around King and Spadina. Best steakhouse in Toronto. Expect $300 for Wagyu or $150 for the 'lesser' steaks.

cool list. I'm taking my kids to Honest Ed's before they close the end of the year. It's something you have to experience for yourself. I remember going there with my parents when I was a kid. We have a Swedish(Gekås Ullared) version, but it's nothing close to the circus of Ed's.

the Picasso exhibit was great. That was worth the price on it's own. Love the 1800s canadian art as well.

I only ask because I liked the Canadian art in that area with the little balcony, but a lot of the Group of Seven, Emily Carr stuff leaves me cold. Just a lot of boring landscapes.

 

Best thing to see in the ROM is probably the Egyptian exhibit.

I saw the King Tut exhibit at the ROM when I was a kid. Museums are not really my thing.

 

I liked the 1800s daily life oil paintings. So much detail and all done before artists could take a HD photograph and have a reference point to paint off of. 5 foot wide paintings with 2cm high people that you could actually see. The skill is just do amazing.

 

I really like the intricate carvings as well.

 

The Vatican is another art museum that is amazing to see.

Ripley's is indeed wicked cool. Went last year, lots of fun. Afterwards we hit up Cest What and I got myself pleasantly sauced.

 

C'est What is great, but I'm really pissed they raised up the price of their cider again....
