These last few games have been electric. Playoff atmosphere all the way.

I can't wait for the Yankees series at home coming up soon.

Stop these threads! But yes hes a stud.

Yes. We already knew this. But I was fairly certain someone would make either a "David Price is a stud" thread or a "can David Price stick" thread. One or the other seemed inevitable.

David Price in post-game TV interview: "That's hands-down the best atmosphere I've ever pitched in."

Then sign a team friendly extension MF

(I know, fat chance)

He is a handsome dude.

He's in the same category as AA with his new beard. Those two would do some serious damage with the ladies, in a night out in the town.

Starting Price tomorrow means he faces the Yankees in both of our upcoming series.

This quote is from another thread but I'll respond to it here, considering the other thread was garbage-tier and I'd prefer to let it die it's miserable death.

So yeah, the fact that they started Price today and have said that they plan on playing him every 5th day regardless of off days, they have a chance to basically set up every possible Price-related narrative you can think of.

While I should note that I don't think he'll make every start for the rest of year on an exact 5-game schedule (I expect him to ask for an extra day at some point), I'll assume that he will for the purpose of this post. Based on that, here is the projected schedule of games that Price should pitch in:

08/03 v Minnesota Twins --------- (W) 5-1

08/08 @ New York Yankees --------

08/13 v Oakland Athletics -------

08/18 @ Philadelphia Phillies ---

08/23 @ Los Angeles Angels ------

08/28 v Detroit Tigers ----------

09/02 v Cleveland Indians -------

09/07 @ Boston Red Sox ----------

09/12 @ New York Yankees --------

09/17 @ Atlanta Braves ----------

09/22 v New York Yankees --------

09/27 v Tampa Bay Rays ----------

10/02 @ Tampa Bay Rays ----------

Basically, he'll pitch in four of the Jays thirteen remaining games against the Yankees, he'll get a chance to quell the Valencia vs Price ******** when he faces the Athletics, he'll get a shot at retribution against the Tigers, and both of his final two starts will come against the Rays, with his last of the season taking place at the Trop.

This schedule would also put him in line to potentially pitch in the wild card game on three days of rest.

Love that Gibbons took him back out for the eighth... it's not like he's coming back next year, might as well work him overtime.

couldn't agree more. Who are we saving him for?

Probably making sure he can at least pitch against the yankees...

Somewhere around the next series with Oakland there's a day off I believe. I think he's skipping someone in the rotation and having Price go on 4 days rest rather than having all 5 go and then Price would be going on 5 days rest. If they do the 5 days rest he gets another Yankee start in there instead of one of these other teams I believe.

I like him pitching every 5th game for personal reasons. lol that would mean that he would be starting the 23rd of sept against NY and I'll be at that game. but if they can get 2 extra starts by jumping some guys I'd be ok with that. we have a 5 game week coming up soon too. I think they should jump over hutch if they can.

Wild card game is Oct. 6.

Let's win the division. He seriously rocked on 5 days rest. Talked about it as the reason for his increased velocity in the post game interview.

Would we ever had imagined that sentence would be uttered back in June...let alone the Price part.

No i couldn't, amazing what a bold gm can do to change one's mind

And yes I'm all for skipping a Hutch start to have Price and Dickey going every 5 days.

There's probably some residual fatigue in Hutch's arm. 184.2 IP last year in his firs year of full time duty. Some skipped starts probably woudn't hurt and as the only young guy in the rotation, he's the only one who might truly need it.

I only see the Yankees three times on your list, not four

Yeah, I'm almost positive that I made a mistake somewhere, because I counted four Yankees starts last night. Let me wake up and I'll double check it.

IMO this guy is a top three starting pitcher in baseball.

Maybe he loves it here. Maybe we do well this year. I've read we have no chance to sign him after this year? Why, how many club can afford his contract? 4? I think we're one of the clubs that can.

Would 6-years, $180M get him? Is that even close?

Depending on his record with 3 days rest, they may rush him up a day if it's a good Yankees matchup to take advantage. I'd consider doing that twice down the stretch.

Oh definitely. I would almost skip away starts for Hutch. Dickey has been bullets and he pitched extremely well on 3-days rest his last start. He has found his premium knuckleball I think. He threw an amazing knuckler as 80 mph near the end of his last start for the strikeout.

So I double-checked, and it does look like he's only in line for three starts against the Yankees. I'm not sure why they said he'd get a start in each of the next two Yankees series, because for that to happen, they'd have to give him an extra day off. If they do that, it'll change the rest of the schedule as well, and make it tough for him to make the wild card start.

It's not about whether or not the team can afford the contract, it's about whether or not they should. 180/6 is nowhere near enough to what he'll get. He's going to get a contract in the Scherzer/Kershaw range, and it's not a sound investment at that price.

If, for whatever unthinkable reason, he fell down to the Lester/Felix price range, I would sign him in a heartbeat.

I guess my point is the Dodgers and Nats have Kershaw and Scherzer for that huge money, sure, but I am assuming that might take them out of the running in signing Price to a similar deal. Maybe not, but probably. So what clubs have s*** tons of money left for a premium starter like Price? Yankees? No, I think Hal S is frugal and they still wear some albatross expensive deals they would like to shed to get under that luxury tax. Angels? Same thing as the Yanks. In sum, I think we might be one of the few large market teams that can back the truck up and spend on him, especially if this season goes the way it may if we have a great August/September.
