scottishbluejay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 My friends in Philadelphia are celebrating as they think they are trading away Revere to the Jays. Please tell me this is a joke?
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 For table scraps, sure. Revere would still be a huge upgrade on Carrera, even if Pompey does come up.
scottishbluejay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 Revere can steal bases. He just can't get on base. He's been terrible in Philly and the fans hate him
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 No complaints if we don't give up much for him.... Upgrade on Bello and Carrera and a Platoon with Valencia would be nice has he very good against righties.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 All his offensive value stems from his base running.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 For the right price, he's a great fit. I don't know what all the hate is here...
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He's definitely an upgrade over the current options but better not be anything of significant value going the other way.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 All his offensive value stems from his base running. and that he gets on base at an above-average clip
BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Why does nobody like this move? The defense alone makes it worth it.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 For the right price, he's a great fit. I don't know what all the hate is here... Just think of Valencia/Revere Platoon.... It is sexy as hell and day Danny V starts Revere comes in later.... I think it is a good fit for the right price.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Revere is a useful player if he's used usefully. I don't want a .708 OPS leading off for this lineup, and that's exactly what would happen if Revere was added.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Plus it gets rid of Carerra, renders Bello only a pinch hitter/DH and allows Revere to be a good weapon as a pinch runner in games we play a lefty.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Why does nobody like this move? The defense alone makes it worth it. Cause Pompey could do that while giving us better offense

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 cause pompey might do that while giving us better offense ftfy
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He'd bat ninth (8th if Goins is playing). That's purely speculation on your part. Reyes was batting lead off and Reyes and Revere are the exact same guy. Pompey promotion please.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 He'd bat ninth (8th if Goins is playing). Anything can happen with Gibby, brah.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Tulo lead-off >>>>> Revere lead-off Alex, old school baseball is over!!
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 If it doesn't cost a ton player wise, it's s good move. It's in upgrade over what we currently have.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN 1m1 minute ago The Blue Jays aren't interested in Ben Revere. The Phillies are talking to some other team. god dam it Ang
TRM Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 That's purely speculation on your part. Reyes was batting lead off and he's worse than Revere. Pompey promotion please. Fine, I'd expect/like to think he'd bat 8th. I think there's a way to make Pompey and Revere work. One as LF and the other as 4th OF. Colabello and Careera go byebye.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Thank you. So I guess that means we land Revere in 5 minutes.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think you guys dislike Revere because he's overrated in 5x5 leagues. But otherwise, he's a solid player, who gets a lot of hits, and at the very least is a great weapon to have on the bench for his baserunning skills alone.

Pompey or bust, just scared he might be traded with Alford by the end of the deadline

He is disliked because hes the anti sabermetrics player whos value is based entirely off tools.
