Sanchez in the pen might work, would be a worthwhile experiment before the deadline. Would love to see us somehow land Cueto, even at a slight overpay. He's just what we need to make a run and would appease the bean counters since he's coming off the books next year. A lot of if's but Sanchez successfully closing in the pen and Cueto in the rotation might be the perfect tonic for this team this year, it'd appease the penny pinching upper brass plus the fan base. If we could somehow trade enough assets for him without it being either of Norris/Hoffman/Sanchez it'd be a dream situation. Edited June 24, 2015 by jays76

They definitely need a better rotation, but I have my reservations on letting AA trade more assets for an elite SP. IMO, what he has traded away should've been enough to fetch a frontline SP, he just got the wrong guys in JJ, Buehrle and Dickey.

 

Yeah JJ was an unfortunate disaster. I really believe he was hoping he could be a front end starter and had designs on re-signing him if he produced.

Maybe we should petition to have a second championship handed out for the best run differential in the league. That way all the delusional fans who think we should be leading the league with this garbage pitching can blame luck for our failures and still have a parade and celebrate all them runs they've scored... Well dopey smokey, that wasn't my point. The question is whether AA deserves to stay on as GM. I was simply pointing out that AA has built a good team that is not reflected in the W-L record. He has built the best offense by far, a reasonably good bullpen, and a starting rotation that while weak overall, has really suffered from the late and unexpected loss of Stroman.

AA's career will be defined by how he chooses to improve this team and where the team finishes at the end of the season. What?? Did I somehow indicate otherwise?? I'm just stating my opinion Jimmy. Sorry if that is rubbing you the wrong way but if you want to come here and say nonsense like this team "should be leading the AL" and that luck along with an injury to a guy who has thrown a total of 130 major league innings is the reason why Alex should be excused, then expect to get called out.
