LTR Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Uggh, we're facing some rookie tomorrow... Tyler Duffey. He's given up just 1 HR in 130 IP between AA/AAA this year. Don't like our chances vs. that.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 He does dominate RH'ers though so Smoak should def be in there.

nextyear Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Blair thinks Thole will be called back up because Martin's been having trouble catching the knuckler (it's f***ing up his thumb). http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-could-make-move-to-protect-russell-martin/ I don't think Navarro gets the respect that he deserves. Navarro has already caught Dickey at lease once this year and did a good job; I don't remember any balls getting past him. Navarro actually made it look fairly easy.

Navarro has never caught RA Dickey.

baloojayz Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Goins doesn't really make a worse 4th OF than Cola and Cola has options. Swap Thole for Cola and the bench isn't really all that worse short term. Cola is a lot less useful than the team seems to think he is. Idk I really like Colabello at first and in the lineup everyday over Smoak. Part of the reason why I felt the Valencia DFA wasn't so bad was because we now have depth in the outfield, but even in the infield if JD went down, you just move Tulo over, but also cuz I felt that CC had an everyday spot either at first or on the bench. This Thole thing is frekin idiotic... I'd do it for Dickey, he has earned it, but Martin having a sore thumb?

You are just as big of a jackass with the new Tulowitzki avatar. You associating yourself with a level headed person such as Tulowitzki is a bit of a stretch. Baubau seems to be right. I can't find a boxscore with Navarro catching Dickey. Having Thole called up to catch Dickey seems just as pointless as me responding to your useless posts. Navarro is a catcher with years of experience, I am sure he is capable of catching Dickey. At times Martin looks like a fish out of water catching Dickey, how could Navarro be any worse at it?

Chappy Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 At times Martin looks like a fish out of water catching Dickey, how could Navarro be any worse at it? Martin is a superior catcher to Navarro. Their is a reason the Jays brass haven't allowed Navarro the opportunity to catch Dickey.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Okay, so 34-20 for magic number of 90. Home record from here on out: 20-6 Away record: 14-14. Or.... Home: 18-8 Away: 16-12 Playoffs!!!
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 But we suck on the road...so first scenario seems likely.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 what would be nice is Ed and Jose going on a tear. neither has done it this year. some flashes of greatness, but no real hot streak, both are over due. I'd like to see the two of them end the season with an AVG of .260+. That would be almost a 30 point hike in less than 9 weeks. If those 2 can just get hot now, we have a great rotation, great pen and a hitting lineup that will make grown men pee themselves in fear of having to pitch to the Jays.

I woke up at 3 am and posted something that you criticised but then I just went back to sleep. I just woke up and you are still signed in. Don't you ever work? Yesterday I checked for the lineup during the day and you were still signed in. Fortunately, I don't have Down syndrome as you suggested but I would never insult people who do by associating them with you.

Eddy is heating up, his strikeout percentage is dropping, his walk percentage is rising, his iso is rising and the babip will follow (not to a great degree though)

Ill be really happy if they just heat up during playoffs. Problem with Bautista is, he's usually too tight in big situations, i say that based on his bases loaded average. He sees red in his eyes and just tries to do too much. I'm afraid that will translate into bad playoff numbers.

Seems to me that Bautista is having problems with his wife and there may be another woman involved that is splitting his attention. He knows that one mistake could cause his world to crash down, so that's obviously why you're seeing him miss those pitches he usually crushes. I'm sure he will see a counselor soon and right the ship just when we need him.

Doesn't help that Donaldson is now the alpha male and he can't do anything about it.

So how will this affect the team's win probability added (WPA) by Jose Bautista for the remainder of the season? Currently fangraphs indicates for Jose Bautista for 2015 that it is +1.64 (WPA) with a confidence range of -6.81 (-WPA) to 8.45 (+WPA) - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1887&position=3B/OF Do you expect the statistics for Jose Bautista to remain valid for the remainder of the season considering the personal problems that he is having? I guess you are optimistic since you believe he will right the ship just in time.
