fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I just saw this. Dude's K/9 and BB/9 are in check and his xFIP is below 3.... why was he let go again?
tercet Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 his career ops vs rhb is like 1100 or something stupid

tercet Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Nevermind its 850.. but hes had a few years where it is > 1000OPS.. Hes not a good pitcher

You realize you're looking at 10 innings right?... lol... Career 4.10 xFIP (bottom of the barrel reliever). AA logic: More padding in the trash makes dumpster diving less painful.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I endorse this signing. Coke is a solid reliever.
LTR Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I endorse this signing. Coke is a solid reliever. Not sure if serious. If by solid you mean bad, yeah, he's very solid.
LTR Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 AA's genius approach: STEP 1 - Acquire mediocre /aging / washed-up player STEP 2 - Promote to majors if said player has a success (good ERA or AVG) in the minors in <30IP or <60AB STEP 3 - Endorse player as "reinvented", "has new pitch", or "late bloomer" STEP 4 - Allow player to fail 1-2 times before demoting back to minors STEP 5 - Repeat steps 1-4 indefinitely until a player has success in the majors STEP 6 - Go on popular talk / radio show and congratulate yourself on becoming a master of the universe STEP 7 - Overdose on Falafels

He is greek....does he have a penchant for Middle Eastern food?

LTR Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Falafels? He is greek....does he have a penchant for Middle Eastern food? I've already been through this... Falafels is funnier.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I've already been through this... Falafels is funnier. Mousaka...spanikopita....meh Ya, falafels is funnier.

gbill2004 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) Isn't AA into the all you can eat buffets? I heard he eats there for every single meal, but that could just be a rumor. Edited May 31, 2015 by gbill2004

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Let it go GFY. Gomes deal still bugs me. Set off a chain reaction that forced us to sign Martin...and carry Navarro for big money, which cost us pitching options and OF depth we need.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Just another guy we can call up for some mop up duty or give a spot start to then DFA 3 days later. With Cecil in the closers role this team is desperate for an effective lefty though. Loup has been shakey all season.

They can't be to desperate we have at least 6 maybe doing better then him down on the farms from a to aaa chad girodo,Matt Boyd , Daniel Norris, Scott Barnes, Randy Wolf, Felix Doubront all lefties I believe Pick one already and send him down!
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 So let's make sure this never happens again. Everyone make their list of players in the farm that will become borderline all-stars so we know who shouldn't be dealt... Cause clearly Gomes was obviously going to excel like this... lol. Stupid point. You can say that about any deal if it goes well or not and we debate the s*** out of them. That's what we do. Yes, it happens they misjudge. The Jays do it a lot. It happened with Edwin and Jose B in our favour. Mgm is judged in large part by how they evaluate talent so our f***ing lists are pointless, cause we play fantasy league. Admittedly I didn't see it in Gomes in a small sample size. Ideally they should have.
