The only bad thing Buehrle did in that inning was walk a guy, everything else was the fault of the fielders.

Firing the manager doesn't improve the roster but you hope it gives your guys a wakeup call. If nothing else it provides a distraction. The players have to answer questions why the manager got fired all day. The team will likely remain s***** but you can't sit back and do nothing.
