Gorlak Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sanchez now with the lowest ERA among Jays starters, Doubt His WAR even goes up after this start.
Gorlak Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Yes but when people pirate they know they are doing something illegal and that they aren't supporting the artists that way and they may feel compelled to support them in other ways. Spotify just gives you the illusion that you're not screwing the artist. f*** that s***. Don't fight the future, Although compensation should change.

LTR Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Devon Travis is cooling off, guess he doesn't want to go to the AS game.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Spotify is amazing. People would pirate it otherwise. I'd rather they did. It's literally thousandths of a penny per play, at least piratebay is benefiting and not some s***** ******* douchebag in the "music industry". Are you channelling Les Grossman? http://www.quickmeme.com/img/65/65c9d9f9c73a16d0ed917cd6ca9063a8e633049b22db60895aafbaecc39947b5.jpg
Gorlak Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Thanks for this post. It's so good. Although it seems that way, this is not an anti WAR post/pro Sanchez post. I just thought it was funny that Sanchez' best start likely isn't even replacement value.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I liked what I saw from Sanchez. I liked the 3-2 change-up he threw to Sandoval to get him to groundout in that error-filled 3rd, unless it wasn't a change-up. What I liked was that he had thrown 2 in the dirt and Sandoval didn't swing at them, but Sanchez was able to throw it a bit higher to get the G/O. I think I saw Martin reminding him about his mechanics as well. We'll see what happens...

It can't be that bad if almost every music act is on there, even obscure s***. spotify works like a micro radio station. because it's only 1 person at a time listening it's less than what has to be paid for playing on the radio, but it is open to a world wide audience and songs can get played forever. Most radio stations play the same 10 songs every 20 minutes for two weeks and then no one wants to ever hear them again.

It can't be that bad if almost every music act is on there, even obscure s***. This is not an exaggeration. The math works out to roughly this: a song is played 1000 times on Spotify, the artist gets 1 cent. that's not even close to the truth.... Well, the listener of Spotify isn't screwing the artist, but Spotify certainly is. And people who pirate music don't necessarily feel compelled to support the artist in any other way, but frankly... If you listen to my stuff on Spotify, or if you pirate it, it makes exactly zero difference to me. If you and 5,000 of your closest friends listen to my song on Spotify I can go get a hamburger. I'd rather have my stuff downloaded from piratebay, because at least at that point you keep it and maybe pass it on to other people who haven't heard my stuff before.

Radio station can be playing to 5 million people and you get nothing unless you wrote or produced the song. if your band isn't well know YouTube can get the best way to get known and make some cash. The biggest problem with the whole music industry is that the production company wants too much money. When CDs first came out it was about $7 dollars a cd. then they got greedy and wanted $20 and at the same time the internet became a viable solution to music needs. I quit buying music when the price got stupid. I have stacks or CDs, cassettes and vinyl, but dont use it any longer. Movies is the same thing. I dont own a VHS and I gave away over a thousand movies that I had paid for because VHS quality sucks balls. I probably have over 1k of movies on dvd that I wont watch because the quality is horrible. I'm not replacing all my movies for 10 to 25 dollars a pop, only to have them come out with some new version of whatever in a couple years. I'd buy all my music if it was under 10 dollars an album for the stuff I like, but I wouldn't give a cent for a lot of s***. there is so much music out there I wouldn't even download for free. Buying albums helps the artist, but puts mass money int he producers pocket more than anything. best deal a largely produced album ever had was the 2 Ace of Bass song writers, they got almost $2 for every CD sold, but the band got to split 50 cents. Same goes for movies... I watch 5 minutes of a lot of movies only to delete the s***. baseball is all I actually pay for... unless you count concerts. I don't mind paying 100 dollars to see a big concert( which is what it costs here.) or pay the $20 dollar cover charge to see a gig in a local club. at least I know the money is going to the artist and not to the production company.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sounds a little nickleback-ish. *hears sound of deadpool adding me to ignore list* but jokes aside, not bad. I learned long, long ago (seriously, I'm too old for this s***) to not worry about criticism or comparisons... I make music (in this case, I just play drums... I don't write for this project) and some people will like it, and some won't... We're getting good responses for this project so far, I'm having fun, that's all I really want. I have my day job, so I don't do much full time anymore so if this makes me money, that's just a bonus. Glad you find it "not bad", we're actually playing a show in Oshawa a week from tomorrow if you (or anyone else) is interested

Okay, I'm not really sure where to start here... You have 1000 dvds that are terrible quality? Is that a thing? Were CDs $7 when they came out in the 90s? I don't remember that at all... Most music is under $10 online now... And yeah, don't pay for terrible music, why would you? Producers deserve money, it's the labels and publishers that get way more, Producers are hardly the problem that's keeping the artists from being paid... CDs (or recorded music in general) has never been a method for bands to get paid. The going rate for most bands signing a major label deal is about $0.17 per disc (for the whole band, plus their manager, lawyers etc...) Concerts actually pay the bands a lot, so awesome, go see those...

It costs almost $30 dollars just to go to the movies here, but at least they dont want your first born for a popcorn combo like they do in canada.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Just paid close to $50 tonight at the movies for two tickets, 1 popcorn and a drink lol
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Just paid close to $50 tonight at the movies for two tickets, 1 popcorn and a drink lol that's $30 Dollars each!! no popcorn... so with drink, popcorn, sweets, it costs me about $130 to takes the kids to the movies here. But they usually insist on paying for themselves since they make more than me lol
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I have no comments on movies. The reality there is that they charge a crazy, crazy amount to the theatres to play the movies, so they have to make it up through concessions. I'm a music guy, and thus far, my acting career is limited to one very, very small role.

I really don't see what's so ridiculous about any of these prices, it's not the 1980s anymore. $20 dollars for a CD really isn't a big deal, for most people it is basically about one hours worth of work, for which in return they will likely get more than an hours worth of entertainment. Most movies in theaters costs millions to make, with 1000s of people involved, taking years in development, but people are upset it cost them about an hours worth of wages. I really don't see the problem here. I get the argument about the majority of the money for a CD should go to the band and not the producers, but otherwise...
fireballW Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sooo... does Bautista need Tommy John? What kind of shoulder injury that occurs on a throw keeps a guy from throwing this long but still allows him to hit? It is really getting odd how little we are hearing and how long it is taking. Serious shoulder injuries would make it hard to hit. A ucl at least doesn't change a swing.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 This may be for the small minority of you peeps, but for those whom cannot catch all the games like myself due to other stuff going on and catch up the game with Blue Jays in 30, I would much rather recommend the MLB.com sites videos: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_05_08_bosmlb_tormlb_1&mode=video#/play?content_id=107469183. They have a 14 - 15 min of game summary. The best parts? No commercial or s***** broadcasting. You also catch up on what the players actually say to the umps too. I swear Pillar said "f*** Off!" to the ump each time he struck out and Miley was shout "f***!" each time a player got on base. So much better than Buck and Pat.
