GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Wonderful, 2 straight depth for cash deals that will go right into Rogers pocket.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 This is one of those ultimately rather small moves that just eats away at you more and more because its so f***ing stupid... what the f*** AA. What do you have to lose giving the guy a chance when he pitched so well early... Its not like you had better options that you were calling up! Its not like you aren't adding guys to the 40 for your call-up. Just no rationale behind this I can think of make any sense.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I hope its international bonus money or this is really dumb
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 The kind of move that drives obsessive fans like us nuts, but that 99% of the fanbase won't even notice.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Can someone please explain to me why Aquino, Albers, Copeland and Hague are on the 40 man over West?
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Can someone please explain to me why Aquino, Albers, Copeland and Hague are on the 40 man over West? Because West is with the Dodgers ...

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I know Matt West might have the stuff.. but there's a reason he's heading for his 3rd organization in a year. He didn't exactly have good numbers in AAA last year, and only saw the majors last season because of Texas's pitching injuries. He has yet to even dominate in AAA batters.. you fans are not scouts, and it's likely that there's something Texas and Toronto didn't like. Don't expect him to reach the Dodgers either.. he's basically roster filler, as LA is very short of depth right now due to injuries to Ryu and McCarthy.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Wonderful, 2 straight depth for cash deals that will go right into Rogers pocket. Wilkins was AAA fodder, West has yet to even dominate in AAA (he was toiling in New Hampshire before this trade, a level he has spent a lot of time at in recent years, only reaching the Rangers due to a huge amount of injuries last season.)

You're right... best to turn to Copeland, Francis, and Albers who have crushed the minors.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 We had a surplus of good pitchers /sarcasm
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Good move by the Dodgers. West has a big league arm. Bad move by Toronto, but what else is new?
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Saving some money to spend it on Hamels/Papelbon trade ?

And his walk rate was rising again in New Hampshire this season. There's a good chance he would have been lit up in Buffalo.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Good move by the Dodgers. West has a big league arm. Bad move by Toronto, but what else is new? West will be DFAd when the Dodgers need to call up another arm. They have had a ton of injuries to the rotation and bullpen. Plus, they have a number of players on the 60-day DL who will return later in the season.

There's a good chance he would have been lit up in Buffalo. lol Matt West tore up AA. 12.41K/9, 2.92BB/9, 0 ER (if you are into that sort of thing) over 12 IP and a 2.08 SIERA. What makes you think he would have gotten lit up in Buffalo?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 You're full of s*** 0.00 ERA, 17/4 K/BB ratio... In New Hampshire (AA). He's only going to LA because the Dodgers have been hit hard by injuries which have drained their minors depth. Considering he hasn't pitched well above AA, I'm not holding my breath on him being a MLB arm.

What makes you think he would have gotten lit up in Buffalo? A 4.15 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in AAA Round Rock last year isn't exactly inspiring. And he wasn't that impressive in his brief callup to the Rangers.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Just out of curiosity how much cash is this likely to be
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 a 4.15 era and 1.57 whip in aaa round rock last year isn't exactly inspiring. And he wasn't that impressive in his brief callup to the rangers. pcl
