Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I think Gibby admitting that Castro and Osuna don't need to be here. AA feeling the pressure Just now?
baloojayz Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Moves that need to be made ASAP: -Reyes to DL or slotted to the 9th spot -Castro either demoted to 7th inning role or demoted to AA Sanchez to the BP would be all that's needed facilitated by a trade for SP. This NEEDS to happen now. We cannot honestly hope to roll with a rotation of Stroman Hutch Sanchez Norris Dickey Next yr We need a proven starter in there. Let Hoffman develop.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Just now? Media scrum, following Davidi, MacArthur and Chisholm on twitter
baloojayz Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I think Gibby admitting that Castro and Osuna don't need to be here. AA feeling the pressure They both got the stuff to be here. Can't be surprised too much if Castro is struggling in his first yr as closer. Their development has been rushed as is, why put the guy in the highest leverage situation you possibly could??? Necessity is not a good enough answer.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 If AA is gonna keep both Osuna and Castro up, then pitch them less so they will be more sharp. Give them a couple of days off here and there. Castro should flip roles with Hendricks.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Gibby doesn't want too much of this s*** on his head when he has to interview for another gig.

Not that he was great before, but he's not used to being used this much. I wonder if AA and Gibbons still think he's Betances 2.0.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Gibby doesn't want too much of this s*** on his head when he has to interview for another gig. There are quotes from Gibby as recently as following Saturday's game that prove that Gibbons thinks Castro is "damn good". He also didn't need to bring Castro in tonight. He also shouldn't have asked Pillar and then Pompey to bunt tonight. He also should've pinch hit for Reyes with a man on 3rd and 1 out.

What WILL help them is keeping them out of high leverage situations. Just the other day Gibby pulled Osuna after he allowed a hit, threw in Cecil as a lefty specialist, and then rushed in Castro when that went to s***. Not only was it terrible that they rushed him in, using your BP guys for 1 or 2 outs greatly increases the leverage of the situation. Castro has to come in with guys on to get the biggest out of the game. Of course their confidence would be shot when things go wrong, they are young and are used to being starters, not relievers where one out was your only job and is so easy to blow. That 7-6 game we won against Baltimore, you saw how emotional Castro was after almost blowing the save. Those high tension moments add up.

Comparing your 20-year old A-ball pitcher to a guy who just had one of the most dominant relief seasons ever. Would be like giving Rowdy Tellez the 1B job out of spring next year, hitting him cleanup, and publicly comparing him to a prime Prince Fielder.

If he's coming out of the pen he should be throwing 97-99... that's what we saw in ST.

What's worse is the media eating it up like pablum or whatever that s*** is called.

He was averaging 97.something, but I have seen a decrease in velo. In terms of whether he should or shouldn't be throwing that all the time, the point was that he's not used to throwing every other day as he's been a starter up to this year. He's also 20 and should be developing in Dunedin, building up his trade value so AA could trade him in a package for another Josh Donaldson type. Plus, he grew up eating 1.5 meals a day in Mexico....Ang told me.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 *lod Meant comparing Betances to Prime Fielder since you own Betances in DDL

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Meant comparing Betances to Prime Fielder since you own Betances in DDL Touche. You own him too right? Have you seen his last 5-6 appearances? He's dominating like only Chapman dominates right now.

It's a tough racket down in the bullpen."
