itsawrap Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 team has been a train wreck lately, need so many fixes it's not even funny I don't understand how anybody thought we would be good with this bullpen. half these guys can't even drink legally in the US yet.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Didn't see much of the game. What did Gibbons do to get the blame? Called for a bunt in the 4th inning. Pulled Loup too early. Used Castro in a tie game in the ninth. Didn't use Hendriks at all.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Estrada might actually be a very good reliever. Better let him rot on the bench while someone who is probably a very bad reliever gets into countless high leverage situations. Just swallow your pride and waste the option year on Castro.
itsawrap Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Why can't Gibbons see that Castro sucks right now? Because he's a retard.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Hey Mr "Statman" 108 wRC+ is not terrible. His go to stat is "TWTW"
Statman Verified Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Martin has been terrible catching Terrible blocking Top 20-30 framing Terrible hitting The supposed Martin effect isn't taking affect
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Time to send Castro to the minors and get another arm up. While Osuna hasn't been bad, Castro looks overmatched. Don't they have some better arms in Buffalo?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Why can't Gibbons see that Castro sucks right now? Maybe because he has pitched in 80% of the games...needs a few days off, same with Osuna
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Yuck... Why is Castro given way more rope than Cecil? WTF Gibby? Face-saving? Raving about the A-ball set-up man and closer all Spring Training and then demoting them as soon as they predictably start tanking is like... not even getting egg on your face. I don't even know what this is.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Called for a bunt in the 4th inning. Pulled Loup too early. Used Castro in a tie game in the ninth. Didn't use Hendriks at all. Yes, these were all bad moves.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Now I didn't see anything before the 8th...but wouldn't the Jays striking out 10 times to a guy that has struck out 6.21/9 for his career be much more concerning than their bullpen?

Yes he should be closing if not starting. Great point.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Castro doesn't fool anyone. Please let him go to the minors. he's throwing a very flat fastball.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Called for a bunt in the 4th inning. Pulled Loup too early. Used Castro in a tie game in the ninth. Didn't use Hendriks at all. Or Cecil....or Estrada. He uses the season pitchers every game

He was throwing 99 with a nice breaking ball. Plus the strike zone was favourable.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 There are plenty of options in AA and AAA to pitch out of the pen that could be good Unfortunately, they werent given a shot in spring training (while Castro and Osuna were handed high leverage roles) Fix this mess
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Terrible blocking Top 20-30 framing Terrible hitting The supposed Martin effect isn't taking affect I think you should change your name.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Yes he should be closing if not starting. Great point. Not even necessarily closing, but he's being treated as a mop-up guy. Estrada literally has the lowest leverage situations of anyone in the pen, which there is no reason for.

Kellys strikeouts are way up this year, He's been good

JD had a killer game. Pompey made a 2 run saving catch

No, because they still managed to score 5 runs against him, and when he was hit, he was hit hard. They walked a lot too, and none of the hits were gimmes.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I like to know why Hendricks was up throwing and not brought into the game? Castro needs to be sent down but AA won't do it
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I know every pitch before they even call for it....bad pitch selection Nostradamus?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Send Castro to AA.. put Osuna in the closer role(he's been better than Castro anyway), and get somebody up here!
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I like to know why Hendricks was up throwing and not brought into the game? Castro needs to be sent down but AA won't do it have to wonder if they are showing Castro to trade him... if they are they are making him less valuable by the day. Can't really think of any logical reason to keep putting him in to close.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I like to know why Hendricks was up throwing and not brought into the game? Castro needs to be sent down but AA won't do it Hard to blame him. After pimping him all spring, comparing him to Betances, handing him a 25-man spot on a silver platter, and then anointing him closer after one game, burning an option year before May rolls around would be a giant embarrassment.

Or at least change his role for a bit. not sure why anyone thinks the Jays should believe in Cecil...they didn't believe in the projections for Guillmet or West.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Send Castro to AA.. put Osuna in the closer role(he's been better than Castro anyway), and get somebody up here! That's not going to fix it. They are a good 2-3 relievers short, its too late. you cant fix problems like this on the fly In a year in which we have maybe the best offence we have ever put together and what is going to be decent starting pitching, we will have one of the worst if not the worst bullpen in MLB Fire AA, and move on. All of Dickey, Burly, Bautista, Encarnacion, Cecil, etc. have trade values. Its time to start over.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 O/U +9. Yeah i'm taking the over on this one. Not how i wanted to win this bet. Ugh
