there are going to be a lot of people calling for heads to roll after this. If Saunders is not ready we should have called up a pure outfielder instead of playing Tolleson in LF. If Saunders is good to go why is he not in the game. why is Smoak not at first. why is Ed not DHing??

 

How many optimal position players did we have in the game? I count 3. Reyes, Pompey and Travis. Pillar knows the outfield but I would rather have him in LF.

Well at this point, the best we can hope for is that we wear out their hitters by making them touch all the bases each time they hit a HR.

Pillar is fine in RF with Jose out, but Tolleson, Goins are not options for the outfield. it's something Gibbons or AA have made up their mind on during ST. Trying to just decide that guys are super utility players because it makes their narrative work. you can say all you like that guys can play multiple positions, it doesn't make it true.
