I'm skeptical of Martin's ability to even range within 50 points of last year's OBP, but I'm not writing him off. Martin's in slow stretch (dating back to ST, which is meaningless stat-wise, but shouldn't be ignored when it comes to performance) and Gibby is being pretty proactive in not letting Martin "work through" a slump in the valuable 2-spot at the expense of the rest of the team. I like the move. When Martin starts mashing, move him up. Easy. It's a non-issue.

 

 

Thing is, Pompey has 2 hits all season. Not that I think he's in a slump, just pointing out that Martin's not the only one off to a SSS slow start.

 

 

Who knows what Gibbons's reason for moving down Martin is, I just hope it's not 'cause of 4 games worth of plate appearances.
