he's my favorite on the staff. i will watch every game he pitches this season and i live in europe. proven success to date but sufficient upside. Buehrle and Dickey are reliably mediocre, Sanchez and Norris are too unknown and unproven, but Hutchison's bed is just right.

He's a good young arm. I don't see him as an ace, but a solid starter moving forward. As the article said, and as a few said over at the Jays' official site, they're also playing the stats game; trying to balance guys where they've had their best success eg keep MB out of Yankee stadium where he pretty much sucked and giving Drew starts in Yankee Stadium and Baltimore where he did pretty well, especially owning Baltimore last year.

 

It seemed like once Macier and Saunders were heading to the DL that Travis and Pillar, respectively, were going to win the jobs. I'm excited to see what Travis can do.

 

The roster was pretty much set at that point except the pen. I'm a bit anxious to see how it unfolds. I was a bit against the idea of having them keep both Redmond and Hendricks in the pen but since we're having younger starters (2 who've never pitched a full season in the bigs) it gives some extra insurance or piggy backing. I just hope they don't screw up starting depth by putting guys in the pen who should be down in the minors getting stretched out and on the roster earlier than they should be for the arbitration and FA clocks to start ie Osuna.

 

It should be fun to watch and see how the kids do since it's going to be sink or swim with the talent they have. There really isn't any back up plan(s) right now.
