Laika Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Big league pressure giving Travis the yips? As a guy without great tools, he needs to field the ones hit at him...
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Estrada 3 IP 3 hits 1 BB 2 K 0 ER Nice bounce back for him. Freeman makes up two of those baserunners (hit and walk). Jays bats destroying Teheran.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Big league pressure giving Travis the yips? Seems that way. It would probably be wise to hold him back. You don't want to risk shattering his confidence at the Major League level.

Gruber and I were talking about this yesterday and we got mouthed off at.... he's been all thumbs. He cant be as bad as he has performed during ST?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Gruber and I were talking about this yesterday and we got mouthed off at.... he's been all thumbs. He cant be as bad as he has performed during ST? It's like, three bobbles in March. Probably best not to read too much into it right now. For all we know, two of those hit a pebble, or he's trying out a new glove model, or something.

He cant be as bad as he has performed during ST? I don't always agree with either you or Gruber but I didn't agree with all the s*** you took for that. I think it's a legitimate concern maybe not in the long term but certainly right now as roster decisions are being made.

Yeah maybe we're reading too much into it but between the bobbles and some of the poor hacks, he looks like a guy putting too much pressure on himself and not playing with confidence. I think there's reason to err on the side of cautious with him.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Yeah maybe we're reading too much into it. ftfy

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Vincent Beauregard with two scoreless innings against the big boys.

I think it's a legitimate concern maybe not in the long term but certainly right now as roster decisions are being made. I'm not saying he's bad... I'm saying he CAN'T be as bad as he's looked. Hard to say why it's happening, but saying it's not happening is silly. They will sort him out in AAA. I think he has been reading the media hype and it's got to him.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Top 4 Goins reaches on an error Reyes triples to centre , Goind scores Donaldson K Bautista HR to LF Navarro out Barton single Viciedo out .. Inning over 8-0 Jays I think we see a big year from Reyes. He seems focused.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Remember boys, Travis had been moved to CF by the Tigers late last season and then got injured and missed the remainder of the season. May I suggest he's rusty?

I like idea of him hitting triples all year to set the table for the big boppers who can be there to score him all year. oh to dream.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Maybe, or maybe there's a legit reason on why they moved him to CF. There was a legit reason, Ian Kinsler.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Maybe, or maybe there's a legit reason on why they moved him to CF. It's generally believed he was moved because the Tigers have Kinsler at 2B for several years and since he's almost ready and the they needed a CF after trading Jackson, they moved him there. I think he's rusty and will improve.

I think Barton makes the team while Smoak starts the year in Buffalo. Reyes staying healthy is the key.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Just to educate myself, what made you think he was unmotivated last year? dude has two levels, coast and balls to the wall.... His A game is great and his B game is NOT attractive. Need him hitting and we really need him to be getting to balls up the middle. you could count on one hand the diving plays he made up the middle last year.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Travis with a rbi double, 8-2 Jays.

And my post is suggesting a possible explanation for the bobbles (rustiness). I didn't say you or anyone else had called him s***.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Smoak can't start in Buffalo. can if he clears waivers and that is likely with the way he has hit so far in ST
