Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 You mean he is the best pitcher in minor league baseball where he gets one automatic out for every 8 he faces I'm not gonna do it...but perhaps we should look at how Kershaw does against the first 8 hitters in an NL lineup and not just assume that hitter #9 is the reason for his success.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Irrelevant due to indirect factors. So if he dominates batters 1 through 8 that's irrelevant? Thanks for coming out.

Obviously not, but lineups in the NL are weaker in general and more pitchers parks...he would not have as good number pitching in the al east with Rogers centre, Yankee stadium and fenway. I always take NL pitching stats with a bit of a gran of salt. After saying that kershaw is a beast either way. Halladays ERA dropped 1 full run when he went to the NL. The DH is usually a top 3 hitter in most AL Teams

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Only 9,150 people showed up for the Rays/Marlins game last night in St. Pete. I wonder how low it'll go when Toronto comes in this weekend. We'll be drawing 47,000+ for the playoffs.. Tampa will be lucky to draw 47,000 this weekend altogether.

I maybe paraphrasing.

Also comes across as racist IMO. No different than a cranky old white woman yelling at a Hispanic woman speaking Spanish to a friend. For those who didn't read the full article. "We’re opening this game to everyone that can play. However, if you’re going to come into our country and make our American dollars, you need to respect a game that has been here for over a hundred years, and I think sometimes that can be misconstrued. There are some players that have antics, that have done things over the years that we don’t necessarily agree with." Im 90 percent sure that WE is referring to his good ol fellow Americans.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Blo-Blo Reyes is back in the big leagues with the Angels due to injuries to their pitching staff. INF/OF Grant Green got DFAd in the process.

Swervin81 Verified Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 It's funny. Last time there's been a 300 K pitcher was in 2002. Before that, Randy had FIVE straight years of 300 K's. In the steroid era prime too. I mean, just amazing.

I love the whole "making our American dollars" thing, like him and the rest of the good ole boys are doing them(non American players) a favor out of the generosity of their hearts. Latin and Japanese players get imported because they're good and have earned their price tags, because there's a demand for their services. They are under no obligation, legally or otherwise to adopt a certain kind of values. It might be a different story when we're talking about them getting American citizenship but just to play baseball, they don't owe anyone anything. I don't think there is anything i hate more in the MLB than the good ole boy culture that many want to keep around, its sickening. I hope we're not seeing some kind of a trend, given this issue, the Lance Berkman thing and the support Papelbon has got from some of the players
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Twins win, Yankees down 3 - 0. The dream of Yankees not making Playoffs still on boys.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 While we celebrate, let's look how "big" the attendance is in Tampa Bay tonight.. 9,431 BTW. Don't be surprised if they struggle to draw this weekend vs. the Jays:

Swervin81 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Kc and Chicago tied at 3 heading into the 9th. Hopefully the Ned YOLOst factor comes into play.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 KC Wins...ugh. Our magic # for Top Spot is 3 (that is to tie them) out of the next 4 games. I think we'll be fine. We just need to win 1 and KC to lose 1.

As long as they win a couple of games, the Texas-LA finale series should do enough attrition to those teams' standings that the Astros get in.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I hope so. I have a big soft spot for them. Astros really fell off in the second half. they had a better record than they were playing in the first half and worse than they are playing in the second half.
