No baseball appropriate stadium in Vancouver. At least Montreal has Le Stade Olympique as a temporary facility while a new ballpark is built.. if it worked in Washington(who played at antiquated RFK Stadium from 2005-07), it could work for Montreal. Besides, if Vancouver was going to get a team, it'd be the A's if that situation with the ballpark in Oakland continues. Montreal at least would keep the AL East proper.

montreal in ALE would be awesome but snowball's chance in hell that will happen. the USA ALE teams will raise a stink.

What you just said was idiotic.. MLB and the majority of the teams seem to be pushing for Montreal in coming years, because they sure aren't making money in St. Pete. 29 other owners are getting tired of subsidizing Sternberg's huge financial losses at the Trop with the Rays. Without revenue sharing, the Rays would be in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection right now. They can't survive with their lack of attendance. Sooner or later, MLB is going to try to terminate the Rays in every way possible, including forcing the team into bankruptcy protection to get them out of their lease.

AL East teams would welcome Montreal. After all, there are a lot of Boston and New York fans there, along with the Jays.

Attendance and rating take a hit anytime its a 'Canadian' team

AL West sucks. I don't find it compelling at all. Seattle and Oakland must be kicking themselves on how winnable that division really was.

No kidding. Final week of the season, and there's no clear cut leader. Angels could actually make the playoffs if they beat the Rangers this weekend.. or the Astros could if they beat Seattle and Arizona. Or we could end up with a complex mess of tie-breakers on Monday for the division and 2nd wild card.. including the Minnesota Twins as well.

That's a myth. Didn't you see the Jays fans at other ballparks this season when the team's winning? Tampa on the other head, it is a truth. Nobody wants to see the Rays.

This season is not every season. The stats are clear, Jays are a low draw comparatively. A Montreal team would be the same.

There are US teams that draw worse on the road than the Jays. Kansas City still doesn't draw on the road even with a World Series.. as does Houston. And of course, Tampa Bay is DEAD last in home and away attendance.

Other factors have to be considered--Yanks are way down in attendance this year, as are the Red Sox and Rays, and the Tigers and Rangers.

Go through the years, you will see Toronto is consistently in the bottom half in away attendance. Overall, worst of all the ALE teams.

Montreal and Toronto both in the ALE just will not happen - NY, Boston, Baltimore won't allow it.

22 years of no playoffs(until this season) hurts too. Plus, neither the Yanks or Red Sox are even drawing in Tampa anymore.

That makes sense. When I heard Buck and Pat saying how scary the Rays would be in 2016, I thought it was a Buck blunder.. there is no way the Rays will be able to afford their current payroll next season at present attendance levels. 2016 has $29.08M guaranteed to 4 players (Longoria, Archer, Loney and Moore) and a load of arb raises, with Smyly and McGee expected to get significant raises, and Cobb a bit of a split between whether he will be tendered. And 2017-19 is even uglier, with payroll expected to soar into the $100M range, which that organization cannot afford. It is exactly the reason why I expect a fire sale this offseason, as the organization can't even afford its current payroll with only 1.2M showing up.

Holy f***, I shouldn't have purged my IL.

The way Angels are going, Trout is back in the MVP race. If they end up winning the AL West, it will not be a cakewalk for Donaldson.

Holy s*** you're negative. Everyone is excusing you but jump on my ass.
