Teixeira has been amazing for the Yankees this season. Damn. Him and A-Rod have found the fountain of youth (or roids). Too bad.

They might never lose again.

And their ownership actually cares about winning, so if they need to make an upgrade, they'll do it.

I think they might be on the verge of running away with it.

At least until they go on the road.. and I'm split on that upcoming series vs. the Twins, as the Jays are chasing Minnesota. And I really hope KC beats up Houston this weekend..

No upgrades are likely. The team is not trading Judge, Severino, Sanchez or any other top prospects for rentals. Of course, their weak schedule helps.. they haven't faced a decent team since the Angels.

We're not winning the division folks. Let's have our eyes on the 1st WC for homefield. Go Angels.

O's lose again, Yanks refuse to cool down.. at least until they go on the road.

And yet, Duquette says the O's are buyers.. they should be sellers. The team's going to be gutted in free agency and headed for a rebuild.. don't empty the farm system further!

Theo didn't draft or sign Russell - he traded for him.....but ya, still impressive.

And meanwhile Cherington is destroying the Red Sox franchise.. imagine where the Sox would be had Theo stayed.. they'd be in much better shape than they are now.

Hey Jayfan2014, tell me more about how Yankees are garbage, and how their old contracts are bearing them down, and they are about to be a 5th place team. Tell me more please

Shut up. No one expected A-Rod and Tex to have rebound years, or have a strong bullpen. And Brett Gardner's having a strong season.. while they're the faves to win the AL East, it will depend on Gardner, Tex and A-Rod staying healthy. They're doing this despite below average defense and a mediocre rotation, which is offset by a top-tier bullpen.

How they will fare in October, if they get there, is another question..

Only 3 games back of a fading Twins team that is likely to be out of it by mid to late August, especially with their upcoming sked? Give me a break. And BTW, the Twins road record is ghastly..

The 2nd quote is when someone suggested the Jays should sell.

The Orioles and Jays are separated by one game. Why should one sell and the other expect to win the 2nd WC?

O's have bigger issues than the Jays. 29th ranked farm system, losing a good chunk of their team to free agency, with their big offensive pieces Davis and Wieters not expected to return (Boras clients), Chen not expected to return (expecting a huge raise beyond Baltimore's price range) and they stand to lose a good chunk of the bullpen as well (Hunter, O'Day), and Norris regressing so badly that he's basically a mop-up man now. Oh, and Dylan Bundy's hurt and out of minors options after this season, and Gausman has been erratic.

Remember when people said one team will eventually break from the pack in the East?

yeah, it's the Yankees.

Gotta aim for the 2nd WC now.

The Yankees have the best rounded team in this division. The rotation is good enough to survive. The bullpen is stellar.

The only question mark is offense, which right now is still pretty good but consists of players overperforming expectations (Tex and Arod)

The rest of the division had an opportunity to bury the Yankees when they lost Tanaka, Miller and Ellsbury for an extended period of time. And now they're taking advantage of a full roster.

Don't we have like 12-13 games left with the yankees...that means we beat them 8ish times we have a good shot at the division

Agreed. Their bullpen with Miller and Betances is the best in this division and they have a good enough rotation (better than the Jays at least) to survive at the top of their division. Their lineup is still pretty solid, only if they are healthy. Tex and A-Rod are having huge years, McCann is still a threat, and have a pretty good outfield with Ellsbury and Gardner. Nobody took advantage of when the Yankees were banged up, and now with a full roster they are showing that they are the team to beat in the AL East.

The 2nd WC looks far more attainable. It looks like it will be a battle between Minnesota, Toronto, Detroit, Baltimore, and Tampa. All those teams, including the Jays, are mediocre. It's winnable. Depends on what AA adds at the deadline, if anything.
