I have no idea why THIS, of all things, is the most annoying thing Wilner says:

It's just so... lame.

I think it beautifully exemplifies the chronic lack of self-awareness.

The thing is he's not even being rude or anything. He's just like that one really dorky guy you know who once misheard your name and then makes that your silly, jokey nickname for all time. You could get annoyed, but then YOU'D be the one overreacting to a damn pet name. Then the guy goes and uses it when he meets your other circle of friends during a party you felt too guilty to not invite him to, and then suddenly you're explaining to 25 confused people why you're "Severus Snape".

tl;dr: SHUT UP WILNER.

Although it is uncertain that this is proven, here are the candidates for the "Verducci effect" in 2015.. forgot about this:

Of course, Verducci is full of it.. we'll wait and see if anything actually happens. Only Bumgarner really worries me.. he is the best bet to decline or get injured.

As for the Jays on the list, Stroman shouldn't be on the list--Verducci forgot he was in extended Spring Training during a suspension. So he's fine. Plus, Norris hasn't thrown that many innings yet.

Uncertain that it's proven? The Verducci Effect is completely unfounded and it's probably best to not give it attention. I don't know why Verducci keeps pumping it out.

It's not like it's a difficult thing to test either.

The Verducci effect is an interesting theory but from what I understand it's been pretty thoroughly debunked in the sabermetrics community. Verducci is not a stats guy and he keeps moving the goal posts to make his theory work so that he can hold on to his claim to fame.

Got to agree with that. However, Bumgarner's workload does concern me.. after throwing 270 IP last season, he is a candidate to regress.. Giants fans should be concerned. And considering what's going on with Minor in Atlanta, Teheran could be a risk as well.. Also note the 3 former Red Sox on the list. Otherwise, Verducci needs to get with the times. Things are different now compared to the old days..

There's nothing especially prophetic about predicting that a successful pitcher will regress and or get injured.

Understandable. But I still stand on my stance on Bumgarner.. after all, the Giants basically ran him out there frequently just to get that World Series ring(including Game 7 on short rest out of the bullpen). Without him, Kansas City probably would've won.

Yeah I don't have a problem with that. It's good to take note of red flags. The only thing I have a problem with is the idea that Verducci has some sort of methodology for identifyng problem cases that's any better than what a random sample would give you and I know that's not your position so we're cool. I remember Cole Hamels making one of these Verducci lists after his World Series year and that was one case were the workload increase was so eggregious that I did follow his advice and avoided Hamels in fantasy.

Game 7 was the only unconventional appearance though and he had four months to recover from it.

Bumgarner has also never been injured and is at a peak fitness level. I'm not specifically worried about him.

Pence with broken arm

The odd-year curse for the Giants strikes again.. how does a team like the Giants manage only to be good on even numbered years, yet have awful odd numbered years?

Regardless, Pence is expected out until May.

Awful news. He's a great guy.

Hunter is a gamer, literally.

Yeah, I hope he can still stream on Twitch...

FanGraphs now includes FanGraphs Depth Charts as a projection system. It averages ZiPS and Steamer and uses playing time developed manually from depth charts.
