AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I know people are down on redraft leagues, but I think a money redraft league would be great. Because people don't take redraft leagues as seriously, I thought adding a little money would help focus people. The other nice thing about a redraft league is that everyone is going for the win, as opposed to having 10 guys going all out, 10 guys playing it safe, and 10 guys building a farm for a win in 3 years. Plus, it will give us something to do until spring training starts. So, I am willing to be the administrator, unless there are strong objections. We're going to do this through FanTrax so everything is pre-paid. So, the immediate input I need is: 1) Do you want to participate? 2) Are you alright with me being the admin, or do you want someone else? 3) What should the stakes be? I'm thinking between $20 and $50. Affordable is good, but a $1000-$1500 pot would be pretty awesome. Might even attract Tercet. 4) Do you want standard settings 7x7 OBP/WHIP or something funky, I was thinking we could mix it up a little so people don't just use the lists that are out there. This is a go, if we get a minimum of 20, but I'd like to get 30 players.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Good points. I'll expand the search soon.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Cool. These things usually take a while to gain momentum, but then they achieve critical mass and fill up pretty quick. 1. AdamGreenwood 2. Spittin' 3. Spanky
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I am interested. Since its a yearly league I strongly suggest 20 teams not 30. We need a FA pool. Also, I strongly suggest that the top 3 teams take home prize money. Will help give incentive for teams a bit further back later into the season. Also, open it up to the main forum so that I have some dumb dumbs to easily crush.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Yeah I am not really interested in a 30 teamer. 20 would be ok. Depends on the entry fee too.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Yeah the entry fee is a good point. I would suggest nothing over $20.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Also, if we're doing 20, then just do it in Yahoo. Everyone can money transfer to the commish. Will be a bigger pot this way.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 If it's 20 team/20 bucks I'm down to play.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 20/20 seems pretty good to me. What do you guys think of something like a 250/100/50 pot split for the top 3 teams? Or do you guys prefer it all goes to the winner?
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 I'm good with all those suggestions. 20 teams seems to be the consensus. And $20 seems to be the consensus for the stakes. Not sure how we'll split it up yet. We'll take a vote once we get up to 20 teams. 1. AdamGreenwood 2. Spittin' 3. Spanky 4. Chappy 5. Boxy
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 A bit disappointed with the $20. I mean for a 6 month season that's spread pretty thin, that's like $3 a month. Why not make side bets? I'm always for that, but I do think 20 for the main pot is about right. Remember, not everyone will be willing to part with much more.

You seem eager to lose some money. I'm not really interested in playing for money anyway but doesn't look like the Premier League is gonna be back up.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Rotiserrie makes sense in money leagues.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Auction would be best? Yep. An auction roto format best rewards skill. I would be interested if the other redraft leagues don't happen.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Zero interest in a roto league for me. Auction sounds fun but roto leagues are so boring.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I'm in for 20/20 but not roto. I enjoy auction tho
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 For now, let's just stick to 20 players/$20. Once we have our 20, we can take a vote on the format. We can't please everyone, so I'm sure we'll lose a couple people once the exact format is known. But we'll fill those up soon enough. But we can decide that once we get 20 voters. At this point, looks like we're probably leaning towards auction H2H. Did one of those last year, and it was a ton of fun. But we lost a couple people mid-season. I think the money might help change that.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I'm not in for sure, but am probably interested. What would the $$ distribution be? If it's H2H it should include divisional winners since the playoffs are so random.

Hopefully most people will be a little flexible and won't threaten to quit if the draft isn't to their exact specifications.
