FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 You guys not done with Dan. This is the 4th time the Blue Jays walked away they gonna come back. Give it up already. You're not getting a top prospect for a disgruntled employee who wants out. Enjoy your dysfunctional franchise's return to the basement, because it's coming.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Rogers has a huge task now to clean up this PR mess. Won't be easy. Selling the team to owners who actually give a s*** about baseball would be a great start.
GNick49 Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 K.......... Certainly is messy...going by what was said in article, can't see Jays as tampering(unless there's more to it). Article said somebody acting on Jays behalf called Williams, but they don't know who it was. Wasn't Ed Rogers. May have been one of his guys or may not of.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I can't believe so many posters over at the Orioles Hangout actually believe this garbage.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Difficult for the O's to stand in the way, huh. Kenny boy sure is a reliable journalist. Think he meant difficult to imagine someone being a big enough **** to prevent a man from furthering his career. Guess he underestimated Angelos.
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Difficult for the O's to stand in the way, huh. Kenny boy sure is a reliable journalist. Good luck getting an exec to your team with a meddling owner in a garbage city now. As if it wasn't hard enough before, now Angelos won't allow people to leave for a promotion.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Real question is how do orioles deal with a GM who doesn't want to be there. Not to mention how DD feels after being denied his promotion

Not to mention how DD feels after being denied his promotion I see this playing out like the Farrell situation. Especially if Baltimore has a sub par upcoming season. Let's just hope that the Jays don't clean house little Eddie f***s up and sends them Hoffman
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Jose Bautista uses deflated baseballs all heil Angelos
Caper Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 The only thing that could come out of this is if Rogers feels a bit embarrassed and goes out and signs James Shields.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Maybe now Rogers will feel bad and open the wallet to get Shields? This is exactly what I was thinking...eliminate the bad PR with a big signing. Makes sense.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Honestly I don't think they really need Shields. IF that money goes to the bullpen, 2nd base and more depth in the OF then I would be extremely happy.

Brenner Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Shields would be a great add to the rotation. I'd prefer to have Sanchez/Norris start in AAA as depth who, if dominating, can come into the bullpen in the 2nd half if they aren't already up as an injury replacement. Dickey/Stroman/Shields/MB/Hutch is the best rotation in the division. I'm confident that AA will throw enough poo (waiver pickups, Delebar, etc.) at the bullpen that something will stick and be good enough.
spats Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 it's hilarious to go and read some of the comments on the Orioles board calling the Jays classless and bashing Canadians in general. They don't look at precedent in compensation for an executive and think that what the Orioles are asking for is more than fair. Typical myopic dumb Americans.

Orioles fans would be saying the same about us if they checked out the torontobluejays.com message boards or TSN/sportsnet comments sections.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 But Americans are dumb, am I Right? Let's take a poll ! Lol Also those other boards most likely are full of wanna be Tampa fan boys, Raptors and leaf fans ! Lol

Laika Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Rickie Weeks could be worth a shot on the cheap. I'd comfortably give him a few mill. Platoon him with Kawasaki and you might get a 2 win situation or something like that. Add in the insurance that Travis provides and you could maybe bump up the total 2B depth chart projection to ~3 wins.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Rickie Weeks could be worth a shot on the cheap. Dat Defense...pass!
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Dat Defense...pass! Defense + Offense = value 127 wRC+ last year 101 wRC+ projection 128 wRC+ career against LHP 161 wRC+ in the 2nd half last year (only 125 PA; normally don't care about this, but might mean something for a guy that used to be really good at hitting and then fell off a cliff for a couple of seasons. Did he fix something? Call the scouts!)
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Do you guys really want a middle infield combo of Reyes and Weeks?

I wouldn't hate the move, I just checked Everth's projection, I think I might stop beating that drum. We should've snagged up Johnson for another kick at the can.

Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 f*** that. can you imagine the runs those 2 would give up on errors? the thought is terrifying.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Alternatively: f***, can you imagine the runs those two would provide on offense? The thought is terrifying.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 yes but the defense would be so f***ing bad it's not even worth it.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Sure. They can both hit above average. Can you give me the advanced stats that account for defensive value for each player and whether or not it outweighs the potential offensive value?
