saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 The irony here being that I'm not trolling ... I'm simply voicing my disagreements with ideas and beliefs. Hell, even when I say things, just based on my observations and beliefs, directed at contradicting or correcting absolutely no one, sure as s***, someone will be running to pick a fight. And then claim I'm a meanie troll. I'm no more a troll than the folks who poo poo anything other than advanced statistical analysis, and bash everyone and anyone who dares whisper about wins or ERA. Or those who hump Bautista's leg when he's being a dick. So you're humping Simmons leg now and telling other internet posters how tough you are..lol. Moogster, you're too funny. How do you think Aaron Sanchez will fair next year?
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Incredibly, in a profession that includes Bill Simmons, Steve STILL manages to be the worst Simmons in sportswriting.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Incredibly, in a profession that includes Bill Simmons, Steve STILL manages to be the worst Simmons in sportswriting. Why am I not surprised that you don't like Bill Simmons
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Moogy is the best troll we've had since prime Greenwood. They're really nothing like each other.
McDude Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 You don't really understand what's being said Oh, the irony... it's not a flawed argument and it's not assuming cause and effect. No one cares if he was speaking on behalf of the clubhouse ... you just don't say it. Period. It's not difficult. And it doesn't matter if it caused anything, or didn't cause anything. As an employee, you don't say it. As a leader of others, you don't say it. It has nothing to do with arbitrary labels. And it has nothing to do with Bautista performing after the commentary. My gawd. Dude, you keeping running around in circles, stick to one argument rather than rambling on (based on rage) like a fool. But you do come up with some good points like "you dont say it, period".... come on man, i thought you were supposed to be smart
McDude Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 This is an old topic. Talked to death when it actually happened. But here's a soundbyte example: "Our job is to go out there and win. I leave the personnel maneuvering to the guys paid to do that job. I believe in these guys. We're going to do everything we can to bring a winner to this city." That's an example of something you spit if you don't want to be bothered with it, or maybe you're too pissed to formulate an insightful answer, because, inside, you're really irked. And, at the time we discussed it, I talked about, if you want to go into the clubhouse and destroy some s***, and drop f bombs all over, you can ... but of course, you should also try to use it as a uniting and rallying point. Maybe talk about how you'll show those effers that you don't need any help, and if they're not going to do anything, we'll do something. But to the media? You shut your whore mouth. Here's a link to the original discussion ... http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/3704-Bautista-I-m-a-little-disapointed And here's what he actually said at that time ... “Of course it’s a little disappointing that we somehow weren’t able to get anything done, but everybody around us that’s in contention . . . somehow figured it out,” Bautista said. ... “We’re in a position where we’re in striking distance with not many games left and we could’ve used a little boost, just like some of the other teams went out and got some additions,” Bautista said. “It’s not that you don’t feel your team is good enough, it’s just that everybody does that at the deadline, figures out a way to improve the roster. We just somehow didn’t.” See the bolded. Everybody does that? The Royals did it. And they're now in the ALDS ... so eff off, baby Bautista. That sounds like a pretty cliched quote... In fact, Bautista's response was more of a "middle statement". You keep talking about how the players should focus on playing and "show them you dont need any help"... THATS WHAT BAUTISTA DID! Hes only one guy.. The fact that you think Bautista deserves to be criticized and Janssen doesn’t is such an obtuse point of view. Basing it on the fact that Jose is a “leader”(yes, this is an arbitrary label; where is it determined that Jose has to bear the burden of responsibility?) But hey, criticize management… you don’t do it, PERIOD, unless you’re Casey Janssen or some other player on the blue jays. Of course it is. When the leader of your team, when you're in the middle of a playoff race (and a winning streak, at that), calls out management ... and then the team goes in the shitter ... it's bad news. What are you trying to imply here?

Hahaha Either the Jays want Bautista and their players/employees to do interviews or they don't. I'm not a fan at all of "you better tidy up what you say or don't say it at all" Because I'd just refuse to talk to the media....oh yeah frowned upon. Everything has to be positive yippeeee
comeon sense Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I,m fine with Bautista speaking out,but did it have to be publicly? In retrospect,i would have rather he voiced it directly to AA,or Gibbons, because i,m wondering what impact or how it might have affected the other, less vocal players.Maybe it did maybe it didnt. Guys like Brett Hull,Jeremy Roenick were great for their game.Who is there is MLB today that has great quotes for the press? I,d like to know, because i cant think of anyone. The NHL players dont say anything anymore.

Everything has to be positive yippeeee Guys seriously.. You DO NOT publicly criticize management (the people who employ you) ever. Being a professional athlete comes with certain requirements, expectations regarding media. One of them is you never publicly criticize your team or management. Talking to the media is a requirement that is stipulated in a player's contract, so you can't avoid them. Jansen was also wrong, but Bautista's comments are obviously magnified, as he is arguably our best player. This is non debatable.

Could you imagine George Brett or Cal Ripken Jr. saying s*** like that? It would never happen.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I,m fine with Bautista speaking out,but did it have to be publicly? The media getting this story out was great. It's a shame so many corporate types want their dirty laundry kept in-house. If you have issues/dirty laundry, then maybe there should be strides to fix the problem instead of letting the problems fester, annoying employees to the point of speaking out.

Interview all over the internet of Brett talking about s***ing himself in Vegas must've been a real positive for the Royals.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Interview all over the internet of Brett talking about s***ing himself in Vegas must've been a real positive for the Royals. Yup. I can see how this shows his total disrespect and disregard for the players and management / ownership. Keep reaching tool.

Keep reaching tool. How is Bautista saying that the FO/owners not doing anything is disrespecting them???? It's f***ing true, they didn't do anything. And nice throwing around the insults, you f***ing hound.

I suggest you listen or read it again.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I wish I could find the Toronto Sun cover after Cito Gaston accused Simmons of being racist. If I remember correctly, it featured a stock photo of a smiling Simmons, and a headline that read something along the lines of "It's a damn lie!".
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Are you seriously saying that Bautista's comments were not taken as a knock on management? I suggest you listen or read it again. I'm with employees who speak out. Because every once in awhile Management needs to realize they're f*** ups.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Don't worry ... no one wants to talk to you. Oddly enough people from here are sending me emails and messages pretty much everyday.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Sweet. Show us the press clippings where your super-awesome tough guy employees stuck it to the man via a media outlet. It's not really about sticking it to them. It's about airing internal dirty laundry and I think its great.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Notices that the restraining order has been renewed don't count. I don't know any women worth carrying on baseball conversations with so it wouldn't be a restraining order. Try again, bitch.
McDude Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 You have no judgment then. That's clearly not a middle statement. He's mocking his employer. He said that everyone else gets help ... except his team. You're an illiterate fool. You asked why Simmons went after Bautista, and I provided you with a possible reason. I had left my mind reading device at home, so I made an educated guess as to his motivation/reasoning. It had nothing to do with which one deserved the criticism. If you want to have an argument with someone who doesn't exist ... and fight against statements not made ... go find a windmill. When you want to deal with reality ... come back to me, sparky. Optics. Are you this obtuse, or just playing obtuse on message boards? You might want to learn how to read before calling other people illiterate, bub.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 This is awesome. You and Anemic should have a talk show on WKKK. We should?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Now, have you finally wrapped your head around the very simple, correct and straightforward point that Jose wrongly barked at his employer to the media, and he should have been smart enough, and man enough, to take it directly to them and keep it in-house, and that Simmons had a valid point in calling Jose out on his ********? I'm glad Bautista made it public. Beeston's an inept figure head and Alex is tumbling down the road of trying to appease to the masses, being a critical error in judgement with the s*** players he brought in via trade. Two idiots needing to be publically tarred for some time, because the Toronto sports media is soft and insulates the teams.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I kind of like JB's reply to Steve. Love it actually.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Yes, we know you're glad. And you're Bautista's target audience. Congrats. Better than listening to Beeston ramble on about '92 & '93. And Alex's love of expensive, veteran, has-beens with "back" stories is wearing thin. Time to get called out. And who better than the best player on the team.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Why am I not surprised that you don't like Bill Simmons I actually used to like him at first, but then just got sick of him. We get it, Bill, you're a starf***er who reads TMZ and you're an entitled Boston sports homer. Woe is you. Still, Steve Simmons is worse just because he's the designated troll columnist that every sports town seems to have.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I kind of like JB's reply to Steve. Love it actually. Agreed. I've long thought Bautista was a whiny bitch, but hey, gotta give credit where credit's due - he ethered Simmons.
