G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I'm unsure of this decision!? How is he qualified??
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 How is he qualified?? Its been a while since he's been an executive but he does have experience
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 He was assistant GM under Ash. I remember him being pretty miffed when JPR was the replacement instead of him.

He'll have to find a new agent

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 How is he qualified?? Affirmative Action
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Yes, I did, normally errr always, when a thread is posted, there's a link, no? PS. Did you see the results for the DDL's MILB/Waiver lottery, congrats! I did. Should help me out nicely.
shortstop Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 he's also very connected to LaRussa...clearly wanted someone who will do his bidding
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Affirmative Action While you're probably just trying to illicit a reaction here, there are many elements of truth to this. When Asst Gm Stewart wasnt hired as Jays GM when Ash was fired, he claimed it had to do with race, and blasted the whole 'must interview a minority' hiring process. La Russa was part of Selig's inner circle the past few years in the commissioners office before taking over the Dbacks job. You have to believe that there was pressure to get a minority hired. It is similar to when Minaya was hired as Expos GM as soon as MLB took them over. No one knows if Stewart was the top candidate really, but he does have good pedigree, and was definitely qualified. That being said, Race probably did have something to do with it as well.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 This should end really badly for the D-Backs. Moar dum GM's is good for baseball though
shortstop Verified Member Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 don't know hurl, if LaRussa can run the ship from the top like he managed in his final years where he was razor sharp, who knows what'll happen other than Tony getting sunshine full year round
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Stewart, of course, made the rounds today after being announced as the Diamondbacks‘ new general manager. One burning question has been how Arizona will incorporate statistical analysis into its decisionmaking, and Stewart told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic that the organization must “get on board with it” after having not done so to present. sigh

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Hah, I'm 95% sure, I know who you're taking at #1... LOL, I don't even know who I'm taking. But as the off season unfolds the picture should become clearer.
