gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 because Goins bat will never ever be good enough to make his defensive value matter. Goins future roll is injury replacement...until he's out of options than it's 25th man. Andrelton Simmons says hi (not that Goins is as good defensively, but he's not far off)
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Ask me again in five years, that will be a fair question then. Give me 10 guys who have been negative value players their entire careers and at the age of 27 magically became a good hitter. Guys who also have never had good offensive seasons in the minors. If you can prove this maybe you have an argument. Jays at this time don't to send out miracle players like this. They need good performance.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Hes going to be f***ing 27 years old. No chance his bat improves to where he can even be a 2 WAR 2B... Jose Bautista and Nelson Cruz say hi, amongst many others who vastly improved in their mid to late 20's.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Lol Ichiro almost was standing in the first row there. Oppo Taco!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Ohhhh Yankee Stadium. Cute.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Andrelton Simmons says hi (not that Goins is as good defensively, but he's not far off) lmao
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Jose Bautista and Nelson Cruz say hi, amongst many others who vastly improved in their mid to late 20's. Lol thats funny. Those guys have raw power which Goins doesn't. Goins doesn't have potential with the bat how do you not understand this?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 A's are f***ing terrible. Wow.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Jose Bautista and Nelson Cruz say hi, amongst many others who vastly improved in their mid to late 20's. I'm sorry, I missed the part where Goins has elite power and eye.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Andrelton Simmons says hi (not that Goins is as good defensively, but he's not far off) This is really where you should stop.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Goins was not a negative value player last year. Oh sorry my bad. *0.3
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Goins is going to be the next Ozzie Smith, f***ing haters.
bluebird Verified Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 if goins learns to hit you will all owe gruber92 apology
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 The Yankees are only 4 games out of a wild card so this game is important to them (especially the way the A's are playing). Go Jays Go, beat the Yankees! I actually have faith in Goins. Last year he went through a stretch where he was hitting the ball well. Even the last couple of games he played in this past week I saw an improvement in making contact. He has athletic ability based on his defensive play so there is no reason why he can't become a consistent hitter. He just needs to improve his eye at the plate.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 if goins learns to hit you will all owe gruber92 apology It's coming bro.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 These guys like Pillar... Goins... s***** walk rates in the minors with minimal power... I don't understand why people are optimistic about any of them. Bautista always had a decent walk rate in the minors and before his breakout. These other guys are just hackers.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I missed most of the game today, why are we arguing about Goins again?
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 valencia has some of the saddest swings ive seen vs righties
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I missed most of the game today, why are we arguing about Goins again? I don't know either, just gruber on one of his rants.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Israel Rogers strikes out the side.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I missed most of the game today, why are we arguing about Goins again? Gruber 92 thinks Goins is the next Roberto Alomar and thinks Stephen Drew is going to put up less value next year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 What does having raw power have anything to do with improving as a hitter? Having legitimate hitting tools, like power, eye, contact skills are pretty important to improve as a batter, last time I checked Goins didn't have any of those.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Good God the ump has a one-sided strike zone tonight.
nextyear Verified Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I missed most of the game today, why are we arguing about Goins again? Because of more bad plays by Reyes. Whenever fans watch Reyes they are going to start wondering who can replace him at SS.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Oh sorry my bad. *0.3 did you remember to extrapolate over 162 games?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Bautista wouldn't sign with the Yankees. He would be forced to shave his beard. This is such a stupid thing, most players don't care since they're being paid big money, but on instances where they can't sign a player because he doesn't want to do it (i.e Brian Wilson) they look like dumbasses.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
