burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Sure they get made. Often times it's just a matter of luck. If you want to break the play down he put himself in a terrible position to field the ball. You need to get your body in front and let the ball come to your glove rather than lean back and try to stab at it with your glove.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Jays might be better defensively with Reyes at 3rd and Lawrie at 2B If we're going to keep this team as is player wise, I'd put Reyes at 2nd, Lawrie at 3rd and... literally anyone else at short. I think Kawa would be my choice as the better overall player, but I could tolerate Goins batting 9th and being an excellent shortstop if I had to.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 We need one of those patented Valencia shots.

He put himself in that position because the ball was hit so hard lol. Do you blame him? Third basemen do that all the time.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Jays might be better defensively with Reyes at 3rd and Lawrie at 2B Then your moving both players . Moot point if they get a decent upgrade at 2nd but I don't see who so If your playing Goins then play him at short. He is a great defender with a Mendoza type bat.

The more I think about it if you move Reyes off SS you may as well trade him. His value sucks at 3rd or 2nd. Goins would be an okay SS overall but he is useless against LHP.

The problem is you'll have Goins Gose 8-9 every with any injury resulting in a guy who can't hit in the 7 spot. Plus Reyes and Lawrie seem to miss a lot of time. I really think we need to acquire a legit two way player for 2nd or 3rd. I don't know if Valencia is going to cut it. He might but...

Goins would be an okay SS overall but he is useless against LHP. I think his bat plays reasonably well at 2b, not really at all at 3rd (nor does his arm play there). I'd be okay with trading him if we got a half decent MIF + in return (star power has value, like it or not...)

I don't think Goins can even provide value at short. He'd need Cozart/Simmons defense.

Well, yeah... the Gose/Pillar platoon doesn't instill much confidence in me with the bat either (*crossing my fingers that we have something with Pompey*), but one issue at a time... Also, my comment was predicated by the idea that we wouldn't be making any roster changes.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Who the f*** uses a messenger bag? I use a laptop bag, sorta the same thing... I guess messengers probably do too.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Looks like that messenger bag model lost her pants. And Buck says "Mr Sub Subway" essentially mentioning Mr Sub's competitor. Cool.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Melky and Colby gone, who puts Reyes in LF?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Easy Buck..Wouldn't call them meaningful just yet.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Melky and Colby gone, who puts Reyes in LF? No one. You think he lasts 120 games on Turf in the OF?
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Random thought: Is the storm we're getting the same one that was hammering the Trop a couple of nights ago?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 No one. You think he lasts 120 games on Turf in the OF? good point, dumn idea
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Did Buck mention "underbelly of the bullpen" yet?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Messengers still exist. It amazes me we still have mailmen. Physical things still need to be moved around sometimes... Mail is usually cheaper than UPS... supply and demand. Canada Post actually turned a profit last quarter!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 good point, dumn idea It's OK. Spitballing is allowed. How about 3B Valencia SS Lawrie 2B Reyes Kawasaki utility IF
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 I agree trade him, however I don't see any takers even if you eat $10m of his contract annuallu There would be tons of teams paying Reyes 12 million a year. If reyes were a FA right now he would probably get over $50 million easily.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 It's OK. Spitballing is allowed. How about 3B Valencia SS Lawrie 2B Reyes Puke. Valencia is a bench player.
