G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Tony LaRusa, John Farrell, living in a big city, firing Motolla, playing on turf. It's not his fault. He and his dad always find plenty of excuses don't they?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Colby is obviously gone this year On a negative note, the Gose/Pillar platoon is not looking so good this past month - neither have convinced me they'll be able to provide even remotely acceptable plate performance even in a strict L/R platoon. 1. We HAVE to retain Melky 2. We may need to acquire a better 4th OF who bats right I have no idea where I stand on Melky. Defensive pylon with a body that likely won't age well... but the guy can clearly hit.

I think the bat is so good in the 2 spot that if you can sign him for 2-3 years +/- options you do that for sure. Then you feel better with Gose (obviously all glove no bat) in centre and Bautista in right. If some other idiot GM wants to sacrifice a draft pick AND give Melky 4+ years you bite your lip, let him go and collect a draft pick. But then you need an extra OF this off season cause we CAN'T use Gose + Pillar next year under any circumstance.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Best guess: Mentally fragile, doesn't adapt well to changes in coaching staff, distracted/nervous/second guessing all the time. In his interview, he talks about his hamstring and his hips and how the turf has taken its toll on him. It sound like he's no longer comfortable playing hard on the turf anymore ("I try to tell myself that I played hard on the turf, I dove on the turf"). He's become indecisive and passive defensively. All the more reason why his relationship with the Jays is done. The turf isn't going anywhere for awhile.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 THE TURF HAS TO GO tf
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I wish we didn't run every player we have out of town. It seems like we never have a good parting relationship. Either the player blows something up, the media does it, or the fans do it. We boo pretty every every former player its stupid. The only booing that really bothers me is Vernon Wells Honestly WTF is up with that??? The guy was sent out in a pure cold-hearted salary dump, was visibly hurt because he actually wanted to stay here, and (some) idiots at the RC boo him when he plays in Toronto again???

I always thought the boos were because they were mad at how bad he became while he was here. I am still disappointed that he never lived up to his contract. I can see why everyone else is too.

We were 27-14 but both Wells and Rios played like garbage because it was hill and Lind leading the way Eventually everything ended. If they had come through we could have been a surprise that year After that fans hated him
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Blame the people who gave him the contract not the player. The day he signed it he said he doesn't know if he deserves it but his family is set for life. Exactly Blame the nose http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VBTn2wvw_Tc/TULQ54sXZHI/AAAAAAAAAQo/AJeUWr13V64/s1600/JP.jpg

It was not Rios' and Wells' fault.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 JPR isn't the one that extended Wells, it was Paul Godfrey. The rumoured trade was Wells to the Dodgers with us eating salary for Matt Kemp and Chad Billingsly and the only reason that we don't know if it would've gone through is our ownership wanting Wells. I really wonder how much the turf has screwed around with Rasmus, if he's complaining of sore hips and bad hammies. It makes me wonder how much of Wells leg issues were turf related.

What about the Eric Hinske booing? The guy was a fairly reliable player who did everything asked of him and he got thrown out of Toronto. No different player than Reed Johnson and that guy's loved like Jesus. Them high socks; hard nosed player; plays the game the right way; (enter your own cloying phrase of choice here)
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
