IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 All it takes to make a GDT is for the starting lineups of each team to have been posted, and that's usually hours before the game. What's frustrating is that we can't know if fatcow will or will not show up so we're left in an awkward situation like today where multiple people have to rush to throw something out there so the rest of the posters can converse about the game. You snooze, you lose. If he really wants to make the thread he needs to be on time. He is doing this more as a service to the members so we cannot expect him to do it every day so if he is busy or cannot be on time then its open sesame to the creation of the thread. I don't think he would be offended if someone else did it especially if he has other things on his plate.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I get what you're saying, but we might not have noticed at the time that even at his worst Edwin has never struck out more than 20% of the time aside from his rookie year, and at the same time posting really good walk rates. He wasn't just an all-power guy like Francisco is. I agree, Edwin is and was clearly a superior player. I think people just tend to forget just how bad Edwin was early on and how badly fans wanted him permanently gone. As I said though, I would prefer Francisco was released right now.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How is he useful though? He is defensively limited, he cannot hit LHP, and he cannot hit a breaking ball. He has a solid arm and can hit a ball into the 500 level a few times a year. That is not a useful player. Career (926 PA) 114 wRC+ vs RHP. Plays a below average, but passable 3rd base. Can also play first base. That's useful for a bench player. Especially when we have someone like Danny Valencia on the team. Remember this is a team that had Moses Seirra as a bench piece to start the year.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 If Happ can hold it at 2...wait he can't.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Agreed, game had started and I still saw nothing. For now on, someone just post in the around baseball thread if they are going to make, to avoid double threads. We no longer need the big fancy gdts this season, lol. Well done Saki Sounds reasonable to me. I will just sit back and take everything in though.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Rasmus come on man...
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Another fly ball easily caught by Gose.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Rasmus looking really awkward around the wall again
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 That was a catchable ball.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 It'll be 4-1 in a matter of five mins.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Rasmus just sit on the bench please. Maybe he was late and didn't take practice har har
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 That was a catchable ball. Tough chance as it had no loft but he got a late break and a bad line....lots of CFs would make that catch imo. Gose likely.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hitting with RISP is an art. Every team but us can do it.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Here we go. Another long night.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 There's the JA Happ that we know.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Warm Redmond now. No time to dick around, they need to win this game.

Remember this is a team that had Moses Seirra as a bench piece to start the year. 2012-2013 he was a 103 wRC+ vs RHP and since he had that hot May he has failed to make any adjustments. I think that is a lot closer to his true talent. You can find half of a platoon at 3rd base that will give you similar numbers and will be a lot cheaper.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Vintage Gibby confused look right there.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 At what point do you take a chance and give Redmond a shot at starting? I think he's earned the right to at least one or two starts. Hutch is gassed, you never know.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 And that, Juan Francisco, is how you f***ing cash in a run ya plug.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 It'll be 4-1 in a matter of five mins. You called it *sigh*

I think he's earned the right to at least one or two starts. Hutch is gassed, you never know. Be weary of Redmond's low ERA. His peripherals haven't been great, K's are down, SwStr% is way down, walks are up, and a really scary 2.3% HR/FB suggest he could be due for some big time regression, his xFIP is at 4.44.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 It'll be 4-1 in a matter of five mins. No, no. That was closer to 6 minutes and that makes all the difference....... *sigh.* It'll be a long, slow march to perdition for the rest of this season. The team obviously quit after the FO quit on the season on July 31st. PS Thanks Reyes. Can't wait to pay you another $22m next year.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 f*** YOU, REYES! God damn!
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
