guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) don't feel like reviving the old thread as it's probably ancient but did anyone see the latest blue jays talk? mike got into a fight with a STAT NERD and i actually found the argument rather entertaining http://pmd.fan590.com/podcasts/blue_jays_this_week/bjtw_20140816_230847--BlueJaysTalk---August-16---Saturday.mp3 it starts around the 14:00 mark Edited August 17, 2014 by guylaroche5 correcting time
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Chase Headley's already over 1 WAR for the Yankees lol. Who needs him? We have Danny Valencia!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Even if Headley were to get hurt its worth the risk of giving u a couple low level prospects for. I don't get the argument of "you expect Lawrie to come back" because Lawrie could of just slid over to second base... An upgrade is an upgrade no matter how you do it.

labadee Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I just can't stand to listen to Wilner It was hilarious how mad the caller got. But i agree, anytime someone disagrees with him, he dismisses them as incorrect.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 lol. " Sam, Yelling at me is not going to help".
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Whats hilarious is that his ultimate argument against Headley is "He'd already be on the DL by now" Good analysis Wilner. And you know if the Jays did get Headley, Wilner would be the one spouting the peripheral stats to any callers saying that we got this guy and he's only hitting .241.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The Wilner show has gotten so boring. I wonder if his job is in jeopardy.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 The Wilner show has gotten so boring. I wonder if his job is in jeopardy. Short answer: No Long answer: Absolutely not, he gets listeners (and the cost of his show is virtually nothing) which is all that matters.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Short answer: No Long answer: Absolutely not, he gets listeners (and the cost of his show is virtually nothing) which is all that matters. Does he get a lot of listeners still? How have his ratings relative to the team's popularity been during the last couple of seasons? I've completely stopped tuning into his show, doubt I'm the only one who's gotten bored of his same old stuff.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Wilner will always use stats that appeal to his argument. If Headley was hitting .300 and only had under a .700 OPS e would be saying how he has no power. I actually don't mind him too much but he always has to sound like he is right which I find really annoying.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Is that our Sam? a small upgrade is still an upgrade. If the asset we gave up was actually Francisco (which I don't actually believe it was) then his argument of "don't give up an asset to get a Chase Headley" doesn't work.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I listen to Baghdad Bob for the macabre factor mostly. Some of the callers are awful. I can't believe it was Juan for Headley. Lawrie or not it was a piece we could have used if the price was realistic. His D alone is such a upgrade and put lawrie at 2nd to finish the year. His obp has been solid.

It wasn't Francisco for Headley straight up, the report was false. Still I'm sure the price was maybe a lower level prospect and maybe another org guy in addition to Francisco or someone like that.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 question of the day. do you feel sorry for Twin fans?
Vincent Verified Member Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I just can't stand to listen to Wilner I love how everyone says this but every other day there's a Mike Wilner thread...
