Jenkins & Redmond have been stellar in long relief but their gonna cut into our pen early in the series which sucks, plus the Jays have a bit of a mountain to climb. Gonna need to dig deep here, losing this series is not an option..

Close to 40 pitches in 1 inning. Same reason Norris was pulled from a start in AA earlier this year.

Stroman had already thrown 37 pitches and the batters were seeing his stuff well and hitting him hard. Gibbons realizes that the Jays cannot afford to get onto an even bigger hole so it was a good call in my mind. Not sure why Cabrera did not throw to home cuz it looked like he might have been able to get the runner. Anyway, let's see the Jays settle down and chip away at that lead.

It's not like he was walking the park. You take a guy out in the first inning because he gives up a bunch of hits, you're going to gas the bullpen because of an overreaction to random variance. Stroman could have had 4 quality innings left.
