o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I can understand it when guys are 21-22, their bodies are starting to get to the point where their done growing, don't baby them. I'm fine with babying the 16-17-18 year old guys. pretty much. add innings every year and get them finishing their own games when they get to AAA
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Facts are that if you have 10 decent pitching prospects n the minors less than half will become major league pitchers. The reason to believe in Norris is scouts rate him so high and he has succeeded at high levels in the minors. The issue I have is his innings limit next year. proper development means he comes up to the majors being able to go 180 to 200 innings Yeah, and he's just passing 105 innings this year now. So, say he finishes around 140 this year, he'd max out around 180 next year.
jerb Verified Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Norris is off to a hot start tonight. 5 Ks after 2 innings. http://www.milb.com/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_08_15_bufaaa_lhvaaa_1&mode=gameday

And on that same topic, we might also see Kendall Graveman as well, as he is dominating AAA as well with a 1.42 ERA, 10/3 K/BB ratio.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Sorry this year went the crap even after a promising 2/3s so here's another guy who will be an anchor to our staff unless we decided to trade him for another Reyes contract. *tongue and cheek )
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 That would be "tongue in cheek"
jerb Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Mike Harrington @BNHarrington 1-hitter w/10Ks thru 4 IP for Norris w/#Bisons tonight. 10 AAA innings: 0 runs, 3 hits, 20 Ks. Seriously. #bluejays
jerb Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Ben Wagner @benwag247 Norris allows a lead off single, promptly strikes out the side. 10 (!) strikeouts in just 4 innings of work. FB 96-94, nasty curves. WOW

Was it that bad or did you not get it.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Call him up. Happ to the pen. Daniel Norris is ascending
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I, for one, welcome our new overlord.

I replied but who the hell knows if you'll ever get it with yahoo mail. I declined but it was a fair offer. I like the power upside of my guy a bit better, plus my MIF with Bogaerts and Santana seems okay for now. I was wondering why you didn't already have him in your lineup.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Finished with 13 K over 5.2 innings, 85 pitches. Sick
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Norris, Hutchison, and Stroman are a pretty exciting trio for next year.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Bisons on a roll, 18-7 over their last 25.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Norris, Hutchison, and Stroman are a pretty exciting trio for next year. Which is quickly mitigated by seeing Dickey and Buerhle as the other two arms.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Which is quickly mitigated by seeing Dickey and Buerhle as the other two arms. Buehrle out and a legit top-tier arm in and the rotation is pretty legit. Easier said than done obviously though.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Yup. Bye to Buerhle and hello to Lester. Dreaming though, AA will never land a big fish in FA.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Yup. Bye to Buerhle and hello to Lester. Dreaming though, AA will never land a big fish in FA. Lester Dickey Stroman Norris Hutchison Sexy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 That's fappable. Then you realize that the most likely scenario is: Dickey Hutchison Stroman Buehrle Sanchez
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Scherzer, Shields, Lester, Iwakuma all available in the offseason if no extensions are done prior. Lester can't get a QO, the other 3 surely will. Iwakuma would likely come cheaper than the other three. Great FB numbers, doesn't walk guys....

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Daniel Norris is f***ed. Good God. I'm never seen a Jays prospect rocket through the Minors like this. We are witnessing something special, folks.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 There actually some decent secondary options this year too: Liriano, McCarthy, Masterson, Hammel.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Kuma has a $7 million team option for next year. The other three would be amazing though. Weird, cots doesn't have the team option listed on the main list with their asterisk. No brainer to pick up that option.

I wonder what Kuma would get if he were a free agent this year? He's a clear #1 caliber arm, but also 34 next year. 3/60?
