Why do they keep putting guys like this in who are struggling all the time?

Guys like Juan,and Colby are ocassionally lucky.

Sit em ,let guys like Kawa,Valencia,and Reimold play more.Isnt that why you got those guys in the first place.

Maybe Gibbons was trying to avoid a GIDP? Remember, they had just sent the runners on 3-2 with Cabrera at the plate so it would be consistent with it.

Perhaps but in the comment before I was responding to @eastcoastjays was stating that Joey's more of a flyball hitter so the percentages of a GIDP would've been lower and I have to agree. I think Gibby was trying to make something happen and force the issue unnecessarily.

Well, since Francisco was up next, maybe Gibbons was trying to create a hole like in the previous AB when he sent the runners which may have prevented the Tigers' 3B from getting to Cabrera's grounder.

Even if Reyes had made it, I'm not very confident in Francisco getting a hit to bring Reyes home. On the other hand, you still want that chance instead of the strike'em out throw'em out DP...
