gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Just curious. With Cano now in Seattle, Franklin could be a decent target as a solid controllable second baseman. He started off this year slow in the MLB, but is now hitting. 300 /. 400 in AAA. Is he a possible solution? What would it take? Sanchez straight up?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 This off season was the time to get him, and many on here mentioned his name repeatedly.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Could get interesting if Seattle stays in the race and the jays continue to fall..
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 While he definitely doesn't have a spot there, he still has value and the Mariners will want quality in return. I'm thinking a MLB reliever could get him. Casey or Cecil?
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Morrow but seriously, earliest he's a free agent is 2020...it'll cost a solid prospect

I'm thinking a MLB reliever could get him. Casey or Cecil? I believe earlier in the year he was being mentioned as a key part in a possible deal for Price. They aren't trading him for a reliever. Instead they'll either put him in a blockbuster or they'll keep jerking him around until his value disappears (probably the latter).

The thing though is Franklin is not exactly a super top shot prospect. So far he has had two stints in the bigs with pretty bad success and was rated as high as 44. If he's going to another team it's definitely not as a headliner and more as a complimentary piece.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the world sees him as. Seattle has been pretty clear about seeing him as one of the game's top prospects. This is why I think they won't trade him unless it's a main piece of a blockbuster (unlikely), and rather they'll keep jerking him around as he continues to lose value (likely).
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Morrow and Delabar once looked like such steals from the Mariners that I wondered if Jack Z might stop dealing with AA But things have changed
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Morrow and Delabar once looked like such steals from the Mariners that I wondered if Jack Z might stop dealing with AA But things have changed Could be worse. We could have League and Thames.

HammerinHank Verified Member Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 To Thames' credit he is slugging 0.624 in the KBO leagues. But I guess he's one of those 'can't hit major league pitching' guys...
