We are back to where we keep ending up. trying to play with no bench and no depth caught up to AA and it's a mess I dont think he can fix before the deadline without giving up the entire future.

little to no leverage right now for the jays...teams tanking can wait a bit longer - one of the benefits of sucking

Uggla is an ugly option, but he's be a cheap, reclamation project. And you can't argue that's not the Jay's MO.

I suppose but AA has said a lot about wanting defense from whoever he brings in. He might change his tune a bit given desperation but Uggla as offensive boost would be a pretty pathetic, borderline white flag tactic. It might happen. AA's commitment to defense if for the most part all talk anyways. You would prefer your offensive reclamation projects to at least not kill you on defense while you wait for their bast to come around (see Chase Headley) but given that AA might not want to trade anyone and might not have any money to work with either maybe Uggla is a good as it gets and the season is basically over.

What about Dan Johnson?

He has good avg against lefties!

These moves would make things better than they are now,and make the fans feel like ,"Hey,at least they are trying something"

Right now,it looks like they are asking guys not capable of doing what needs to be done to get some kind of offense going.

And he's raking, plus he has decent MLB experience. If I was Dan I'd be pissed. And for the love of gawd, demote Thole and bring up Kratz! With those two, it wouldn't be end of days crappy at least.

If Bautista was healthly and playing RF, promoting Dan might make sense since Lind can't play 1B effectively but the team doesn't seem to want to play Bautista in the OF so Jose might as well play 1B. After the all-star break maybe you call up Johnson, move Bautista back to RF and use Reimold in the Gillespie role and get the probably inevitable Gillespie DFA out of the way. My preference thought would be to keep Johnson in the minors, keep Bautista at 1B, call up Kratz, use Navarro in the Gillespie role and get the invitable Gillespie DFA out of the way.

I like that no scenario has Gillespie on the roster.

Exactly. It's frustrating having a $130M payroll and be forced to pick others crumbs off the floor to fortify our injury-riddled roster. Honestly, if AA cannot pull the trigger on anything we need to start selling.

Same thing could be said to any other team in the AL East not named Baltimore. It's not just limited to Toronto. None of the other teams in the East outside of the Orioles are contending.. especially considering Baltimore's had a huge run since June 1st.

Since June 1st-

Orioles: 22-13

Rays: 18-18

Yankees: 16-18

Blue Jays: 14-20

Red Sox: 13-21

Certainly Baltimore has to cool off sooner or later..

No time like the present to learn.

I still blame lawrie the retard for batting the way he does. This guy is going to have a career of 90-100 games seasons

Soon to be 24 year olds games that revolve around speed and keeping the ball on the ground should already be adept bunters. This is stuff they should be working on in their ascent to the majors. Not while they're in the majors or just before they make the majors.

Maybe Jose's leg isn't a 100% yet and this is just a way to keep him in the lineup without further aggravating it.

Yes that's what I'm assuming actually which is why I can't see him being moved to RF until after the All-Star break. The fact that he's captaining the homerun derby and probalby won't want to pull out of the actual game either complicates things a bit. You would prefer for him to just take the time off and recover but you don't want to DL him just to make him miss it either.
