bowld Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Honest question. Who do you believe will be in first place come the ASB? We play the Brewers, A's, Angles and Rays Yankees play the Rays, Twins, Indians and Orioles Orioles play the Rangers, Red Sox, Nationals and Yankees

We play the Brewers, A's, Angles and Rays Yankees play the Rays, Twins, Indians and Orioles Orioles play the Rangers, Red Sox, Nationals and Yankees its not gonna be the Orioles, maybe the yanks but they are bad offensively. So if I had to put money on it I would say Jays
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Hate to say it but...........I pick the Orioles with the Yankees second and the Jays third. I'm not being Debbie Downer but I just think this will happen. Let's hope I'm wrong!
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 that's a tough stretch of games. 3rd place by the all star break looks realistic. can't afford to lose 3 out of 4 to the shitSox.. ugh
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Either the Jays, Yanks, or O's Going out on a limb eh? Jays.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I'll say Jays We're... the least bad team in the division Second half when Yankees get Sabbathia and pineda back I'm worried tho
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Either the Jays, Yanks, or O's LOL Pretty sure they're the only ones for whom it's mathematically possible
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 It'll be the O's, I hope I'm wrong (again) though. I'm quite a bit concerned with the way the team has been playing for a while. Whether it's bad defense, base running, hitting or pitching, they've been finding ways to shoot themselves in the foot, kind of last year's team right after the 11-gamer. We'll see what happens...
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 i still think we have the best team so as long as Bautista can stay on the field i,ll go with the Jays.

Forgot to say that part of the reason I think it won't be the Jays in 1st is because I suspect Bautista will re-injure the hamstring the same way Reyes and Rasmus did earlier in the season. Hopefully, he only needs the 2 weeks Reyes needed instead of the month Rasmus missed.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 At least the Orioles and Yankees can beat up on each other right before the ASB. But I'm only now realizing just how much Lawrie being out hurts us. With Bautista coming back, we don't have to worry about Gose's bat, but there's still Kawasaki and Francisco. AA really should have signed a second baseman over the off season.

Not having cecil, bats, and lawrie has been troublesome for sure....bats is back, but until he can play the field we use him to dh and lind sits, so that's not ideal against right handers..although it's nice to have lind's bat off the bench. Hopefully bats can get in the field soon and Lind to DH. Jays in first at the All star break for me!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 you are being a debbie downer Plus, given that Yankees and orioles play each other next, that scenario may be mathematically impossible
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 If the Jays play .500 ball over the next 11 games (5-6 or 6-5), I think they'll be 1st by the break. If they do their typical nosedive, then it's probably the Orioles.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Gonna be tough with 10 straight road games against A's, Angels, Rays Getting through that @ .500 would be fine by me

Maybe its just cuz I get so tired watching the games, but i figure the players dont take kindly to starting games at what they are used to being 10pm

I've never known Buck and Tabby to run a talking point to the ground.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Jays are facing a lot of lefty pitching on this road trip . Hopefully Bautista can play in the field and if he can I expect Kratz to come back up as soon as the 10 days are up.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 going with the orioles but jays following close behind
4thOFan Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 AL East is so bad this year. If the Jays don't make the playoffs this year they never will.

SHI DAVIDI | TWITTER @SHIDAVIDI Scheduled to face as many as five left-handed starters when they head out west later this week, the Toronto Blue Jays are thinking about recalling catcher Erik Kratz to give them another right-handed bat for the trip.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Look at the Orioles schedule: Rangers, Red Sox, Nats, Yankees. They face Darvish, Lester, Lackey, Strasburg, Fister, Gio, Kuroda, Tanaka. That's eight #1/2 starters in twelve games!! Our schedule is tough too but the only great starters we face are Gray, Kazmir, Richards and Price. The Blue Jays will lead at the break.
