Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I can't believe you did a post like this then mentioned Kershaw and Drabek in the same post . lol your right this board needed some humor so thanks for giving us that. To the people who missed the sarcasm? Drabek and McGuire if we are really lucky will be moved to the pen and MAYBE we can still eek some value. Unless McGuire finds that supposedly plus slider he had coming out of college, no need for him to be in the pen
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I saw this tweet a few hours ago..apparently Harper is making his rehab in Class A ball and he's the 3rd youngest guy there. Man, isn't this his 3rd season? Crazy
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Unless McGuire finds that supposedly plus slider he had coming out of college, no need for him to be in the pen I've always wanted McGuire to end up with the John Lackey comp. Nothing outstanding, but good at everything. But he turned out to be just like Ty Taubenheim. He still has a chance to be a productive player...

Well as Boxy always points out, my grammar has never been great. Then again it is better than a lot on this board. EEK is what i think when contemplating a Drabek start. or should I have said Yuk!

It's not a bad thing for these guys to transition to the pen if that what it takes to get to the hugs. That's how all relievers in the majors right now get there... By sucking at being starters.

By sucking at being starters. that's as old as baseball. modern specialty pitchers is a luxury only teams in the modern game have afforded themselves. drafting guys specifically as pen pitchers has not been around for that long. Guys in the pen used to be the guys who had ruined their arms.
