FelineFriendly and TheBoneCollector, even if you guys are new posters, all you've done since signing up is spam the GDTs with negativity. Not exactly adding content to the board. I'm down to censor posters like you even if you aren't personally insulting others.

After lurking for a year-plus, what finally pushed you into creating an account was the ability to curse at players and umpires in GDTs? I don't get it.

this is a lie for one, and negativity is not against a rules...A quick look at the last GDT thread shows how wrong your post is. Like others have said...how hard is it to ignore a poster? Let the mods deal with it if it is out of hand. Didn't see a rule only good happy thoughts are allowed.

You wouldn't believe how venting helps sometimes. When I'm watching a game and we get hosed by a stupid ump I like to express my sentiments in words for others to read. I occasionally do this on twitter and facebook too, but better to be in a place where others share the same opinion.

I don't only post negative comments, again with the judgment. This is just a message board, not life.

I understand that venting relieves stress, but all you're really doing is keeping people who actually have thought processes behind their posts from posting. I'm not going to make a thoughtful, 100 word post to a GDT if it's just filled with people cursing out the Jays.

BoneCollector, you've been better. I'll give you that. Keep it up and Go Jays.

And I'm sure when the jays get on a run you will see a bunch of positive posts. So just because me posting coincides with the jays having terrible luck and in a slump I am purely a negative poster?

Jesus you have the spare time to look up all my posts? Been out lately?

All I did was click on your profile and copy a picture of a few recent posts.

You weren't commenting on relevant logic-based things that describe why they had been losing, you're just s***ing all over them for everything.

I was only displaying my frustration for Juan Francisco, and I am entitled to that. If you don't like my posts you are welcome to ignore.

Like I said just a message board, not life

I won't copy the post, but I don't see a real big problem with those kinds of posts. Same things you hear from people if you are at a game. Lots of fans are like that when watching a game. I don't post much in the GDT, but if I am watching a game on the computer and there is a bad call, sometimes I refresh the GDT just to see other people are annoyed and not just me. I do think the "ignore" poster button goes underused. If you had a problem with those posts, ignore the poster. Everything to do with being a fan shouldn't be in depth, analytically discussions. There is always a place for overreacting when it comes to one's sports teams.

It can get annoying but people vent frustration in different ways why does it bother you so much? People are entitled to vent, this trying to dictate how every person should act on this forum needs to stop. everyone is different, some live in the moment and let their emotions run wild, some don't. i ask again, how hard is it to ignore said poster?

I'm not even that frstrated or annoyed by your posting and you are definitely entitled to think what you want to think. I'm just saying that when you post, nobody says "hey, that guy made a good point/funny joke/good observation." You're not actually adding to the discussion. That's my point.

You're free to keep on posting as you have been though, as it is within the guidelines of this message board.

Exactly, I just don;t understand why people on this forum get so worked up over some posters venting, it happens everywhere, ignore it.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. There's a diff between a reactionary negative Nancy and an attention troll. Of course I don't go into the GDTs and cant say how annoying it can get:)

But you'd think you could just ignore those posts and move on. It's the guys spamming the board with their obvious dup accounts that needs the mod's attention.

It's all in the way you go about it. Complaining about bad calls, awful PAs, errors, stuff like that I don't think people mind.

It's the people that constantly bitch about anything that's not going perfectly that gets exasperating.

Baseball's hard, players get into funks, it happens.

I'm pretty sure wailing about it constantly in a GDT drives more people away than it draws in to wallow with them in the despair of Edwin going 0/10 or whatever stupid-small sample size issue is currently ruining their life.

This is exactly right. Everybody gets mad once in awhile about really bad calls, errors and so on but its the constant negativity and whining that makes people angry. I recall most recently the game vs the twins where Pillar missed the catch and allowed the runner to reach second base. People were saying things like DFA Pillar, hes a f***ing piece of s*** blah blah. Then when he was batting before people were posting crap about how terrible he is, that he was going to strike out, he sucks at life before the at bat was even finished.

There is venting frustration and then there is filling the GDT with pure negativity and contributing nothing of substance. I shouldn't have to ignore half the people posting in the GDT because they are spamming it with crap. If you want to be respected by the other forum users than show some respect to them as well and try and make a positive contribution. Also consider the fact that its a game and in the grand scheme of life not very important. Wishing death on a player for making an error or striking out in a key situation is taking things a bit too far.

Yes. Reactionary negative nancies. That is me. Can't help it sometimes.

Never trying to spam when being negative, just have this huge fear of a catastropic bad stretch that ends the pennant race in 3 weeks. Like all of a sudden it is July and the Jays are 5 back. And it's over. But some positive guys are still saying "no we can get back in it", but it keeps getting worse and worse and we are 15 back at the trade deadline, but it happened so fast AA had no idea what to do and couldn't even sell.

And there is no meaningful baseball in August, let alone September.

So I think it is the fear of a sudden and catastrophic system failure that gets me all uptight and uncalm.

Another thread ruined by trolls.

How? Show one post that has been trolling besides your own? This is the exact type of post that people are talking about, you come in with 1 sentence add nothing to the discussion and call certain people trolls....Who was trolling here besides you? This discussion has been going very well.

yawn. No point in talking to trolls. You've been banned like 7 times = troll. A couple of other posters in this thread/GDT are clearly the dogg trying to emulate you because he knows the negative act irritates everyone. I'm just annoyed that genuinely good people are wasting time trying to reason with trolls who are either mentally ill or don't give a s***.

Why did you even respond to his comment? It wasn't directed at you yet you still felt the need to fight back. I'm pretty sure you said you were going to just put these posters on ignore. Your post is also exactly what people are talking about. Take the high road and just put him on ignore instead of starting pointless arguments. I guarantee you will have a more positive experience on this board if you take that advice.

You are right, I did what he wanted got baited by a troll, should have ignored him. it is annoying seeing someone come into a discussion that was going fine only to troll, and have the nerve to call others trolls. it's that type of poster why this thread even exists.

Non-Metallijay, truly new posters would not stick around through all this hounding, nor get in to beefs with Spanky from the minute they show up, post 50-100 times a day, etc.

99% of truly new posters would leave or go back to lurking. but no, you keep at it, every single time until I have to ban you again.

Metallijay = Flamingweasel = Bunchedundies = TheBoneCollector

This needs to be reposted.

And this too.

In most cases, someone who's been permanently banned should never be allowed back. I get that the guys around here like to give second chances, and even though I don't necessarily agree with it, I get it. It's when people waste those second chances is when I don't see why they continue to get rope. Yes Spanky was only banned for two days and Metallijay would have been perma-banned, but that's also because Metallijay has gotten way too many chances.

That being said, he was good today (at least in the GDT). Never thought I'd say that, but if we can somehow witness the miracle of him turning it around, it never hurts to have another poster who is as active as he is.

Edit: Speaking on second chances though, with the new infraction system in place, where people are handed incremental bans, I don't think it will ever again be justifiable to allow someone to come back after a permanent ban. If someone burns through their infractions and gets repetitively banned to the point of being permanently shut down, any dupe they make from that point forward should be immediately perma-banned, long before it ever even gets to the point where people are ruining every thread by "hounding" around in their sherlock trenchcoats.

You agree with my post and then immediately respond to him again. This kind of behavior is the reason people are suspecting you of being a past banned account. New people would just ignore it yet you continue to try and defend the fact that you just joined 2 weeks ago. You have no reason to be so defensive if you are being genuine so just ignore it move on. Trust me you will be much happier in the end.

Ironic he comes here and starts s***, he's still at it lol. Anyway i'll let the mods deal with it.

Enough points made

Let's discuss baseball not member personalities. As Admin said, people who constantly post crap and do nothing but deliberately agitate will be given 1 chance via infraction and then banned if it continues.
