P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I thought it would be helpful to create a central thread where anyone can ask the community any random FBB question, regardless of whether they're in a board league or not.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 So, factoring in nothing of my current roster makeup, should I pull the trigger on this offer: Tony Cingrani for Eric Hosmer. I'd be getting Cingrani. 12-team roto dynasty league. Stats are (not the greatest):

Batters Stat Categories: Runs ®, Hits (H), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)

Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Losses (L), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Quality Starts (QS)

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 No. I don't want ECJF to yell at me, so I'll say that Hosmer is probably twice as valuable as Cingrani all things considered, IMO. I've never played in a roto league so maybe that requires a different perspective but in terms of stat for stat production, Hosmer is a borderline top 20 hitter.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Who does that leave you with at 1b and until?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 No way Hosmer top 20, but would still take his side I guess. I do love Cingrani though. Without positional adjustment.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Hosmer hasn't played like a Top 20 hitter yet in his career. He's busting my balls - I have him in two leagues on ESPN and in the Premier League.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Hosmer is kind of like a Billy Butler type, he gets underrated at first because he doesn't hit a ton of dingers but he'll contribute in average, obp, slg, and also give you 10-15 SBs.

You're absolutely right, but I'll give you $100 if Billy Butler ever steals 15 bases in a season lol. Hell, even his career.
scottishbluejay Verified Member Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I'm desperate for a Out Fielder for my bench. Currently have a few injuries. Would Anthony Gose be a worthwhile pick up for the short term?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 A-Justin Morneau for B-Adam Lind and Tyler Skaggs
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 A-Justin Morneau for B-Adam Lind and Tyler Skaggs I'd take Lind and Skaggs. Lind's number are a bit depressed right now because of time missed but I could see him bridging the gap between him and Morneau by the end of the season. If if he doesn't, the gap would have to be awfully big for Skaggs not to make up for it anyways.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 My team is a fringe contender in a 20 team Dynasty league and i just traded Gallo and Sano for EE, did I do well? Boxy Sux!

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Who does that leave you with at 1b and until? I have Edwin at 1B and Lind and Rizzo at Util, with Hosmer gone.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 If this is a redraft, I'd be gunning for a guy like Haren, Kazmir, Kennedy or especially Lackey who all will likely outperform Cingrani ROS and likely come even cheaper so you can hang onto Hosmer if you wish.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 It's a dynasty league. There's an optional draft before every season where you can drop any number of players you like to pick from the group of FAs, but the drops must be made before the draft and without knowing how many players others are keeping. It's actually a pretty fun addition to a dynasty league.

I wouldn't really invest in pitching too much long term. Like I really wish I had unloaded Sale for Puig when I had the chance, lol.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 I'm not really a contender right now - more middle of the pack. I won this league two seasons ago, and am now pseudo-rebuilding. Lol. Yep, I wish I'd traded for Puig when I had the chance as well.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 A) Votto or Polanco + Kendrys NOTE: "A" have tons of OFers (Stanton, Braun, Heyward, JD Martinez) and needs to increase their OBP.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Votto with awful performance so far His "awful" perfomance so far is nearly 140 points of OBP better than Morales's performance so far.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Don't worry, I didn't do this deal. What do you guys think of Lincecum + Infante for Brock Holt? Guy in my league is a huge Red Sox homer with beautiful quotes like "Holt may be legit," "Lincecum's stats suck," "Infante was a throw in," "Holt's BABIP means he's better than Infante," and so on. I've been arguing with him for weeks about it and now that Holt is cooling off and Timmy threw a nono I think I finally won the argument lol.

scottishbluejay Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Hey guys. I'm having problem with my outfield. My outfield is currently: Melky Cabrerra, Kole Calhoun and JD Martinez. On the Bench I've Starling Marte and Mark Trumbo. Bit Worried that this season is blown for Trumbo. Shane Victorino is currently available on waivers after coming back from injury. Should I drop Trumbo for him or wait for Trumbo to come good?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I probably wouldn't. Trumbo's got far better RoS projections.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 If it's a 5v5 league, ID rather have Victorino as my 5th outfielder over Trumbo, especially since your starting 3 arent SB threats
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I don't think you can go wrong either way. I've never liked Trumbo but he's got some value in a 5x5, so I'd probably lean towards waiting out his turnaround.
