Defense is overrated or Gose is really good?

It's this year or next anyway. He can't be sent down next season. I still think the same thing about Gose that I always have...he has to BABIP his way to any hitting success (flat batting it would help but doubtful with Gibby managing and Gose's ego). He has great CF range...but he's still going to have mental errors and when he does that will slow the crazy defensive metrics.

 

I agree that it has to do with his pride. Gose could bunt for a .300 average and steal 50 bases, but he thinks he's a power hitter. I heard Bucket and Patsy say that he had worked on bunting, but it hasn't shown and the bunt has to be a huge part of his arsenal if he is going to stick

Gose reminds me a lot of Moseby, but with more speed... Moseby OBP under .300 his first 3 years before finishing 14th in MVP in his 4th.

 

Gose has great patience and doesn't appear to have any holes in his plate coverage..... he just needs time

Devon White was another CF who sold out for power early in his career. He had 24 homeruns with the angels in 1987 but his OBP hovered around .300 during those Angels years. He eventually became a consistent .330 OBP guy and ended his career at a respectable .319.
