Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Well, you partially got your wish. Santos is headed for the DL with a forearm strain. You do realize these Angels pitchers are actually good, right? 4 good starters with WHIPs in the 1.10s with a decent offense. It's the blasted bullpen that's held them back. If they could straighten it out, these Angels could easily be well into 1st in the AL West. It's not surprising the Jays are having trouble with the Angels. Just be glad we get Cleveland and Texas next, both having issues with their pitching staff(excluding Yu Darvish). Those series are a good chance for the Jays to bounce back.Tomorrow should be better. Garret Richards is probably their best pitcher. Using xFIP, the Angels next three starters are: Skaggs 4.04 Weaver 4.14 Wilson 3.28 Next two games are winnable with two mediocre Angels starters.. and we'll have Buehrle on Monday most likely vs. Wilson. You're a real piece of work aren't you?

OBPlover Verified Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Unfortunately it looks like Hutch is a bust..which I predicted. The guy I want tried as a starter is Brett Cecil.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 When we have 3 catchers on the roster why do we have the worst defensive catcher in the league behind the plate playing hurt??? The guy can't frame and all he calls at times is fastballs so he doesn't have to block anything or move anywhere . How many runs does he cost us before Gibbons realizes Tampa and LA were right! Fat and lazy.

Fat and lazy. I agree for the most part, I wouldn't call him the worst defensive catcher in the league (considering that he's probably playing hurt) but the rest is all true. He isn't helping our pitchers out at all with his framing and his blocking is also sub-par. It it ridiculous that on more than one occasion we've run him out there with the FAR superior defensive catcher in Kratz at DH. I don't know who's calling the shots but it really needs to stop, at the very least put Thole behind the plate who appears to have sold his soul to the BABIP gods.

Yes I did predict Hutch will fail, in the pre-season, when everyone else was so gooey after his spring training performances. As I said, you need a lefty starter for the RC. It eats up RHP alive. You need more lefties. If you can't find a dominant righty, go with a LHP.

Lol bro don't fall for the bait, if he really is this clueless then we should be afraid, still doesn't warrant a response.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 So who do we blame for Happ's bad start, Kratz? I mean, this blaming catchers stupidity has to stop. Pitchers miss their spots, when they miss over the middle of the plate too often, they get pummeled, that's what happened to Stroman. Hutchison missed out of the strike zone, so he threw a lot of pitches and walked 4 guys. Not saying Navarro is the greatest catcher out there, but this team's pitchers have major control issues.

I think Happ is a pretty good candidate...
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I think Happ is a pretty good candidate... LOL, yup, that's my point. Hutchison had a bad start today and Stroman's fastball was running into the middle of the plate, it happens. They have serious issues with issuing BB as a staff, but Hutchison is not one of those, today he just didn't have it, period. I speculated (out of my behind of course), that throwing 110 pitches or so in his last start may have affected him today, but it's just speculation.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Stroman shouldn't be wasting anymore time in the pen. He needs to be in Triple-A starting and building up innings. Him being here pisses me off unless hes taking Happ's spot that he never earned. Not to derail the tread and I am sure someone has asked already, just too lazy to find it, but who is the girl in your avatar? lol

Yeah a 4.37 ERA and 1.30 WHIP are fabulous what was I thinking? Before you have your expected temper tantrum over his FIP, realize a 38% GB% is death for a RHP at the Roger's Centre.
