SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 With the s*** show that is our pen, how bout breaking Stroman in as a reliever....not a closer, but give him 3-4 innings here and there to get his feet wet. He could have come in today in the 6th and pitched 3 innings, or maybe finish the game if he's dealing. Put santos on the DL with right arm shitiness. I guess the problem is there are too many long men already, but how bout we send Rogers and Happ packing to solve that problem to.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 It does not make sense to screw with Stroman (who is important to our future) in order to win a couple more games NOW, when we probably won't compete this year anyways.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I'd rather not mess with success. He's had that at least in Buffalo. The rotation is horrible right now. If he can come up, have success, eat up innings it'll take the strain off the pen and we won't have to see some of the gas cans. Maybe he spends some time in the pen later on if he's on a innings limit but if they bring him up I'd rather see him start and see what happens after a few starts.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I understand that it used to be the norm to bring rookies up in the pen and have their earn their rotation spot (Hentgen being the example that Buck and Pat tend to drone on about from time to time) but I just don't see the point in getting a pitcher's arm used to going on a regular schedule, only to change to an irregular schedule with the idea of putting it back on a regular schedule again...
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 They have middle relief help in Wagner, but they refuse to make a decision on the long relievers. John Stilson had a good 2013 and ST, but has struggled in the 1st month at Buffalo. However, he's another middle relief option. Stroman should certainly stay as a starter and he will.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 You can always find guys for middle relief Stroman has a chance to be a #2/3 caliber starter making tiny $ for years to come To Hell with starting him off in the bullpen

StrowShow coming in June.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 Yes, I was a little insane last night. Every year there is a point that the team pisses me off so badly that I vow not to watch the next day, tonight's game is that day. Good news is, they always win the game I decide to stop watching which pulls me back in and makes me watch the next day again.
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 No way I wanna see Stroman in the pen, but I really want to see him up in the rotation soon
baseballsss Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 We need him now. The concept is not bad if you are the Cardinals and your rotation is full, but ours isn't. Yah i was gunna say this is exactly what the cardinals do and they have success with it but makes sense on what you said cause they seem to have a never ending line of good players coming up. Still not a bad idea OP part not sure why some people are gettin on him for it.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 The idea of going start to start with McGowan is as wrong as sending him out in the 7th against Gordon on Tuesday with the intention of pulling him if Gordon got on. If one guy getting on with a 3-run leads you to decide he's done, then he shouldn't have started the inning in the first place. Same with the start to start approach. Anyway...
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 I think it's good it's stroman time, and I see no problem with giving him a few innings out of the pen to get his feet wet, then take Happ or mcgowans spot.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 I think he's here to piggy-back a start. This to.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Is the domino Sanchez to Buffalo? Hope not, should be McGuire..... Sanchez needs more AA time
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I'm not AA! Honestly I'm not If you are, you should be embarrassed of that body you lug around.
